Not a bad sight on the school run last week! This is Blencathra from the Mungrisdale road-end in Cumbria. I often get asked what the best camera is for such and such, and I always quote the reply another photographer once came out with - “the one you have with you!”. This was taken with my phone...

I’ve deactivated my social media accounts. Just too energy sapping and time wasting and sick of shouting into an empty echo-chamber. Feel concerned about so much in the world, and convinced myself that posting articles and information would help, but it’s really a hiding to nothing. Achieves nothing, but provides the data harvesting machine with fodder. News feed devoid of relevant stuff. Just random adverts and pined / promoted posts. My FB Photography page has 8.5k followers, but they don't see my posts, so what is the actual point?
Just going to put images on my own web site and the odd blog on here.
Here’s a shot of the summit of a mountain called Biale, which is 6729m high, seen from Hobutse on the Baltoro glacier in the Pakistan Karakoram. Taken in June 2019 with a 15 year old Nikon D300 and a 180mm prime lens. Only ten megapixels but good ones!

With international travel off the menu due to Covid and concerns for the planet post COP26, we are celebrating the place where we live! This panorama was the Langdale fells here in Cumbria a week ago. From Hawk Rigg near Tilberthwaite.
Evening in the Eden Valley at Armathwaite, Cumbria. Special place!
A panorama over the Northern Fells of the Lake District National Park from the flank of Blencathra yesterday. Bannerdale, Bowscale Fell, Carrock Fell etc. At this time of year, when the forecast is this good one has to get out! Five hours yomping across the cold fells with my dog was such a tonic.
Coming up on to Blencathra summit here in the Lake District yesterday. Winter is coming!
Chapursan Valley, Hunza Ghojal, Pakistan. At the end of our trips across the Shah Jinali / Karambar / Chilinji passes from Chitral via Ishkoman, we emerged into Hunza down this fabulous valley. Long closed to foreigners due to its proximity to Afghanistan and the easy passes that lead over into the Wakhan from its upper reaches, this is the birthplace of celebrated Pakistani mountaineer Nazir Sabir. We were so fortunate to obtain permits for this area when we did, as it is now firmly closed to visitors again. For this we have to thank Maqsood ul-Mulk and Hind Kush Trails, who handled the logistics for these trips for us. Mashallah!
