"Kids don't want to be teachers anymore" yeah because they either understand that teachers are severely underpaid or they hate the way that their peers disrespect their teachers so they don't want that to be their life
Which for how the average intellect and literacy of Americans is going down, cursive is no longer taught, and all the other struggles about education in the US, we need teachers. The lack of pay is just another thing that will cause the downfall of American literacy due to the lack of educators. Teachers being in need should not be normalized. Long-term substitute teachers should not be normalized.
And while I hate no longer being able to have a phone in school, I think it might help with the general attention spans shortening. My school can no longer access YouTube, a lot of video game websites, and other things that allow constant change whenever one gets bored and I am kinda grateful for that. I hope other schools do the same because tell me why a kid in the grade above me couldn't tell you what a rectangle was. And he sat in the back on his phone and using Google on tests. I bet he was an avid ChatGPT user too
From what I remember, the average attention span is about eight seconds while a GOLDFISH. has an attention span of nine seconds. For being who we are (who else besides humans has done all that we have?) we shouldn't have shorter attention spans than a fish. I think that the idea of schools banning phones is good so kids can build up their attention spans by not having the temptation of going onto YouTube or TikTok just to scroll mindlessly. Phones being distractions is one thing, but them being a distraction while rotting brains is a bigger issue
