INTO THE LIGHT

This is long overdue. My Out Of The Dark mod is more than one and a half years old now, and I’ve been testing and tweaking with something similar, but for sims instead of walls, floors and objects. And here it is!  Well, it’s on early access on Patreon for now, but will be coming out Friday, November 29th.

@luumia released NoGlo, a mod similar to this one, a long time ago, and that’s where most of my inspiration has come from. But, much similar to his NoBlu mod, it wasn’t exactly what i wanted (as you can see from the comparison pictures above), so I made my own. If you choose to use Into The Light, remove NoGlo first, as they will conflict with each other.

This will remove the blue “aura” that surrounds sims when they’re in a dark space, and with “dark space” I mean “any space at all”. By default, the game overzealously illuminates them all of the time with this artificial blue light that makes them stick from the rest of the world like a sore thumb, and it’s even worse in dark rooms, where they just glow inexplicably. 

Into The Light gives sims a softer, less corpse-like look, with more faithful colors. It also increases the saturation from the sunlight, which pulls Sims into the world even more when they’re outdoors. And it works really well with my Out Of The Dark mod, which removes the blue tint from the rest of the game and helps bring everything together! Highly recommend using both.

Although the pictures in this post use Maxis Default Skins and Eyes, I suggest you use Default Replacements. I use some from @pyxiidis and they’re my all-time favorites! Look for eye replacements that remove the specular map ;)

how do you get that fisheye effect in your pics without the circle?😫

just wanted to say i am very much a beginner when it comes to blender as a whole so like forgive me if i have any terminology wrong or anything

so in the camera settings i just set the camera fov to 180 or above, most fisheye pics i do use these settings:

i kinda just shove the camera into the sims face for most portraits, the trick is to kinda get it close enough to their face so that it still has the fisheye effect, but isn't super duper far away.

you can achieve the same kind of thing with full body shots too, you just have to make the field of view large enough to go past the lil camera box, for this example i set the fov here to like 317 degrees

(also just so you know, the lens focal length doesn't HAVE to be 15 i just always set it to that for some reason)

hi there! first of all, i love ur legacy, second of all, how do you take ur image screenshots and how do u crop it so squarish the photo (instead of the normal resolution) it looks so clean and neat? Thanks <3

hey, thanks! i answered some of these questions in the editing post, but i think it would be better if i just share my legacy editing template with you.

firstly, i take my images using reshade. i don't use anything other than that. then i edit the screenshots using my template.

i use a 🏴‍☠️'d version of photoshop 2017, no idea but it might look different depending on what you use. you can try use photopea as well.

i use actions by @/intramoon in it but i can't include them in the download because of their tou so you'll have to download them separately and add them in. download from here

firstly add 'richness add-on' and change the adjustment layer's opacity to 40%

secondly, add 'bright and saturated' and change the adjustment layer's opacity to 22%
