Kiddo who’s so used to taking care of themself. Making their own pasta, cutting off their own crusts, filling their own cup, putting bandaids on their own owies. Kiddo who spent so long taking care of themselves and self soothing they don’t know how to act with a carer now looking out for them. Instinct tells them self soothe, to be quiet and take care of it themselves.

Their carer finds them all the time, standing on a stool to stir pasta they’re making, muffling their cries with a teddy bear or cleaning up their own scraped knees. And carer is trying to be patient, rushes in and tries to take over so kiddo knows they’re not alone and they’re being taken care of now.

“I tan do it…”

“I know you can, button. But I wanna do it for you, okay? I like taking care of you.”

🫧 How to make bathtime more fun when you don’t have a bathtub 🚿🧼

Wanted to make this bc a lot of the bath-themed agere content I see is bathtub-focused, but not everyone has access to a tub — and that’s okay! Showering can be just as fun and you can still feel little :)

In the shower

Make bubbles with foaming body wash

Use kids products, like Suave kids shampoo

Use a fun-shaped loofah / mesh pouf or a washcloth with a cute design

Use shower steamers instead of bath bombs

Put window clings on the shower door or walls

Doodle or draw in the fog on the shower door or walls

Use your imagination — pretend you’re in a rainstorm, a magical waterfall, etc

Play music or ambience with a waterproof speaker, or keep your phone safely outside the curtain

Use toys like bath crayons, water wheels, funnels, or suction-cup toys

Turn on a sensory lamp nearby (a safe distance from the water!)

Afterwards

Set out comfy clothes or pajamas ahead of time

Pre-warm your towel in the dryer

Use a towel with a cute or comforting design

Put on nice-smelling lotion or body butter right after

i like when it's rainy or cloudy and cool outside. it's nice to stay in and be cozy, and it's also fun to go out in the rain. i like that when it's colder and cloudier there are less people outside, so i can be the only one there
