I have an idea for a story though. Imagine being a book reader and all and then get into some magic shit, stuff like that, and then you find out every author have lived to experience every novel they published.
Of course they published too many books so it wouldn't actually make sense until you find out they're a thousand years old and can take whatever form they want and live whatever life they want.
The cosmos chose them (like being the "chosen one") to be these writers to fulfill missions. Without stories, without books, the entire universe will explode into nothingness.
The catch: it's actually more of a curse than a blessing. They have to meet a certain quota for how many readers read their works and when they don't reach that quota, they die an excruciating death. When a writer dies, another one is chosen.
How to be the chosen one? When you pick up and read a certain book that you found in an unusual place. So the "chosen one" doesn't have to be a writer or a wide reader. The chosen one will just have to read that certain book.
And then there's this one person who doesn't like reading or writing and became the chosen one. Certain things happened after that yada yada yada and then this protagonist met a world class author and the author helps this person to meet the quota, showed protagonist the ropes and all.
However, the protagonist doesn't like the whole "you're the chosen one and you're doomed" thing. So this protagonist went out of his/her way to end this kind of curse, met a love interest which was a fictional character from a certain book, and many other things.
Still got no idea for the other details though but I think that would be kinda dope.
