“We were far more successful than we ever thought we’d be and if you heard the early tapes of the Go-Go’s, you’d know what I’m talking about. But we had a good time. When we broke up, it was just time for it to happen.” – Belinda Carlisle. The band that would eventually be promoted as the “girl Beatles” got their start playing at a legendary punk rock club called The Masque, formerly located at 1655 North Cherokee Avenue in Hollywood.
