eustass kidd - eustace the monk, a 13th century french pirate and mercenary, and william kidd (captain kidd) a 17th century scottish privateer-turned-pirate
kidd's attacks
punk/slam gibson = gibson guitars
punk rotten = johnny rotten (sex pistols singer)
punk pistols = sex pistols
punk vise = vice squad
punk corna dio ("magnetic great bull demon"/"horned demon") = dio/the devil horns (🤘) he popularised
damned punk = the damned
killer - not intentional by oda but his "fafafa" laugh references "psycho killer" by talking heads, so his name is an accidental reference too (and his appearance with his helmet bares resemblance to daft punk)
bonus: killer uses sound based attacks with his punishers and his attack "jin sonic"/"spin and sonic" is a play on gin & tonic
(im unsure if the punishers are named after the band punisher founded in 2010 purely because i don't remember if they're named pre-ts)
heat - most likely named after english rock band "this heat", though there is also the swedish rock band "H.E.A.T"
wire - english rock band "wire" (i wonder if his trident would be named after one of their songs, i propose "manscape")
pomp - arena rock, also known as pomp rock (for example: REO speedwagon, starcastle, def leppard, grand funk railroad, kansas, styx, and most notably queen)
hip and hop - hip hop (quite obvious)
bubblegum - bubblegum music/bubblegum pop (eg: the archies, ohio express, middle of the road and the osmonds)
dive - stage diving (another obvious one)
reck - named after reck (Яeck), the bassist of japanese rock band "friction"
quincy - the late quincy jones, a record producer and composer among others, a massive name in the music scene during his time
papas - most likely named after the american rock band "papas fritas", though there is also "the mamas & the papas" (papas fritas seems more likely imo)
house - house music (eg: daft punk, swedish house mafia, frankie knuckles, jackmaster funk)
gig - named after the term "gig" (obviously)
boogie - likely named after the late 60's boogie rock subgenre (eg: zz top, status quo, lynyrd skynyrd, the doobie brothers and santana), but there is also the late 70's boogie subgenre of club music (eg: heatwave, earth wind and fire, parliament and kool and the gang)
uk - "anarchy in the uk" by the sex pistols (i like to imagine the smiley face pins on his shirt are a nod to the nirvana logo)
fun fact: chapter 1013's title "anarchy in the bm", where kidd first confronts big mom before their fight, is also a reference to this
mosh - moshing/mosh pit
compo - short for composition
disc j - disc jockey/dj
jaguar - likely the fender jaguar guitar, but he could also be named after mick jagger of the rolling stones, as his official english name is jagger
honestly i dont know what moai and emma are named in reference to, if anyone knows or has any ideas feel free to enlighten me
also they aren't official but fanon names, im curious as to where haikei, oscar and noe's names actually come from, i would like to be enlightened
