Cabbage Patch Kids
I’m torn. I used to love CPK when I was a little kid myself. In fact I’ve loved ‘em all my life but just recently I learned the true history behind the doll brand. Apparently Xavier Roberts basically stole the idea off of this doll maker lady from Kentucky. He got rich off the brand and she either saw little, if any, of the money. That isn’t right. So now I’m conflicted. They’re cute dolls but I don’t like supporting a brand like that. I’mma keep the dolls that I do have b/c they are cute and hey they’re bought and paid for anyways. Can’t change that. But now? When looking at CPK dolls to get I just feel weird and like I can no longer support a brand/doll I once loved so and that makes me sad :(
1983 Fabulous Fur Barbie
This is one of my latest purchases. I absolutely love it. I think she’s so pretty and I love the fact her hair isn’t the typical blonde color you see on more Barbies from the 80′s.
DREAMers, don’t stop dreaming
You’ve probably heard by now that President Trump and his Attorney General Jeff Sessions have decided to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Originally created by President Obama, the program provided hope and protection to nearly a million children of undocumented immigrants, many of whom have growing up knowing no other nation besides the United States of America.
In their hearts, in their lives, DREAMers are Americans. And they are human beings. The cruelty of deporting them to an unfamiliar land is matched only by the recklessness of doing so. Immigration is vital to our identity, our economy, and our culture. To extinguish the dreams of DREAMers is not only unkind, but fundamentally un-American.
So, Tumblr, here are some ways you can help each other out:
Call Congress and tell them to pass the DREAM Act. There’s a six-month delay before Trump’s order kicks in, and that’s six months for Congress to get their act together on this. Light a fire under them, will you?
Join an event near you, and connect with others IRL who are fighting for what’s right.
Don’t forget to take care of yourself, especially if you’re one of the people directly affected by this. You can’t just fight—you also have to heal.
Tell your story. Tag it #DREAMer. Let people know what you’ve experienced, and let other DREAMers know they’re not alone.
And if you could use some perspective on what it’s like for a DREAMer right now, please read this Answer Time session with an undocumented immigrant who took your questions on her situation, her hopes, and her fears. It’ll open your eyes, it’ll open your heart. It’s what the world needs right now.
Stay strong, Tumblr.
1984 Peaches N Cream Barbie, African American. My latest #Barbie purchase.
1989 Flight Time Barbie, Hispanic. One of my latest Barbie purchases.
Long Time...No Post...
Been super busy with work and just life in general. So haven’t had much of a chance to update this place. But that should hopefully be changing now.
1979 Kissing Barbie. Got her at the local flea market sometime last year. Still wearing her original outfit thankfully and in pretty decent shape I think given the age of the doll.
1991 Holiday Barbie. Got it off of Amazon Warehouse deals a while back. The box is all screwed up. Has no top nor bottom. Barbie herself is in great condition thankfully. This is one of my favorite holiday Barbie’s from the 90′s.
Long time no post
I know it’s been a while since I updated this blog. For one I’ve been kinda busy w/life itself. So I haven’t had much of a chance to get to it. Also? Haven’t gotten anything new recently so not much to update. Though I guess I could and may post pics of what I do have in my ever growing Barbie collection.
Got a new Barbie today at Walmart. It’s the Plaid on Plaid Fashionista. She’s super cute :)
The fight continues to protect the land and natural resources of Standing Rock from the threat posed by the Dakota Access Pipeline. Listen to the representatives of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe tell us why it matters to them and why it should matter to you.
This is the Magic Moves Barbie from the 80′s. I got her @ the local flea market sometime last summer. She’s obviously not in her original outfit/dress. She’s dressed the way that I got her/bought her.
PASSPORT BARBIE DOLL – CANADA – 2012 – My Barbie Site
This is one of my fav. Ken dolls that I’ve still got from my childhood. He’s actually kinda cute for a doll lol He’s the “Splash N Color Ken” Barbie doll from like 1996 :)
Does anyone know what @barbie that is? I’ve had her since I was a little kid (I’m 30+ now). I’m just curious. That may or may not be her original outfit. Most of my Barbies (that I’ve still kept from my childhood) are still in their original outfits though a few aren’t. Just curious what doll she is. If it’s not her original outfit does anyone know what she’s wearing?
