“Aye, a bath’ll certainly help,” the Troll said with an exhausted smile. “M’ kind’s pretty resilient ‘gainst infections, but I reckon it’s best to not jinx it.” Bruce turned, letting his nose guide him to the closest body of water in hopes of a creek or river. Moving water was always much more promising than lentic, stagnant bodies.
“And it’s no problem ‘bout the dogs. I’m sure ye’d’ve done the same for me,” Bruce added; a surety augmented by Jaskier’s nonhuman status. In all honesty, the Troll wouldn’t have expected such reciprocity from a human. Not following a lifetime of decidedly unsavory encounters with mankind. Humans had a tendency, after all, to exterminate whatever they felt threatened them; and would have perhaps lumped Bruce together with the barghests, and left him to his own demise.
“Now that we aren’t runnin’ for our lives–” the Troll continued, eager to break any silence and distract himself from the formerly harrowing near-death experience. “–what brings you ‘round these parts? Unless ye live ‘round this area?”
"You're lucky I showed up at the right time. I can help you with your wounds in no time! I'm not a doctor, but I learned tricks from a witch friend. Besides, I studied a little about medicine in my college days." Jaskier now more relieved that the imminent danger was gone. His more spontaneous and talkative way had returned with everything. And after Bruce protected him even seeing what he really was, the bard felt he could trust the Troll more.
"I don't know... it depends on the person. But I know that there are people who would help you without hesitation. Especially a friend of mine." He smiled sadly at the memory of Geralt. However, he decided to focus on the other's question so as not to delve into his own sadness.
"Well answering your question... I'm a bard as you can see. My life is to walk the road looking for a tavern or a nearest town to sing my songs. I was on my way when your magnificent presence came my way. And well the rest is history." He gave an amused smile trying to keep pace with his new companion.
"But what about you? You live around here, I presume?"
