âThe Patient Gardenerâ by Visiondivision
âA society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.â -Greek Proverb
Swedish architects Visiondivision and a group of students designed the two-storey study retreat, which is currently growing on the Politecnico di Milano campus. A circle of [cherry] trees will frame an hourglass-shaped hut for Milan that wonât be complete for 100 years.

20 top-rated Sherlockian winter holiday fics
In 2013, DestinationToast did a fantastic post listing the top 20 Sherlock holiday fics. And then, in 2014, I did an updated list.
This is 2015âČs list.
Itâs the top 20 most-kudosed Christmas or winter holiday Sherlock fics. (Methodology below.) Above, in the screenshots, theyâre sorted by kudos, rating, and wordcount.
Here are the links.

Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Missing Christmas Spirit by Silent AurorÂ
Upon Reflection, Tenable Frippery by Emmagrant01
Methodology:
On AO3, I went to the âSherlock Holmes & Related Fandomsâ tag. Then I filtered for the tags âChristmasâ or âholidayâ. I sorted those results by kudos, then weeded out the ones that didnât actually appear to be Christmas/Winter Holiday fics, or to have a major Christmas element. (I also searched for âHanukkahâ, âSolsticeâ, and âWinter Solsticeâ, but there arenât many fics with those tags.) The usual disclaimers for this sort of thing apply; data are malleable, so if you put in different qualifications (and versus or, for example) youâll get slightly different results. (You should try it, especially if you want to find more than these twenty.) Stats are fun.
Enjoy your reading!

i think the coolest thing would be to see a new color
right so theres this thing called the bullet shrimpÂ
and not only are these things totally badass and stylish
they have 16 colour cones in their vision
us humans only have 3
these things can literally see over 5 times as many colours as we can
literally they can look at what we would see as a completely black space and see thousands of colours we donât even know exist
do you understand how fuCKING COOL THAT IS
not only that but they can punch a hole in an aquarium tank.
thatâs pretty fucking radical.
not only punching through aquarium walls too
these little demon-spawn can punch so hard and so fast that
IT BREAKS WATER PHYSICS
their punches cause water to boil and create a bubble underwater, which kills its prey if it has contact with it, cooking them from the outside
BUT IT DOESNâT EVEN NEED TO MAKE CONTACT
the collapsing bubble sends out a shockwave strong enough to kill anything in a 10 cm diameter due to pure pressureÂ
this fabulous sob is death incarnate and donât forget that Â
Even better - the inside of that little bubble before it collapses is over 400 million degrees Kelvin, hotter than the surface of the Sun.
What?! That is soooo cool!!!
adorable baby foxes playing with a dogâs ball will brighten your day

During a military campaign, Vlad the Impaler, the basis for Dracula, once pulled his troops out of a major engagement in a valley at dusk so that the sun was in their enemiesâ eyes. Once they were over the hill, they set loose a bunch of rabid bats who flew away from the sun (towards the enemy) and attacked them, leading to significant infection in their ranks, and Vladâs eventual victory. Because of how the bats appeared from where Vladâs soldiers appeared to be at dusk, myth stated that the soldiers turned into bats at night, which is where the âDracula can change into a batâ thing came from.
There was a Parthian generalknown only as âthe Surenaâ who was so hot that his king had him executed.  Before he died he was a military genius and the Romans, the Romans who always talked about how ugly everyone who wasnât Roman was wrote about how good looking this guy was: ââŠhe was the foremost Parthian of his time; and in stature and personal beauty he had no equal.â - Plutarch. Â
Iâm tempted to add all these various ones into a massive master postâŠ.
my friend told me to watch this cooking video while listening to sad music. so i mixed a little something for you all
THIS IS THE FUNNIEST FUCKING THING IVE SEEN ON THIS STUPID WEBSITE

Amazing Transparent Church in Borgloon, Belgium
The architect group, Gijs Van Vaerenbergh, built this church in Borgloon, Belgium. It doesnât look like anything special⊠from certain angles. From other angles, the structure reveals itself to be something else entirely. It consists of 100 layers of stacked steel, that are equidistantly staggered in a way that illusively change in appearance based on where the viewer is standing.
Thanks Chris
