one thing i love about shen jiu is that people assume the worst of him so you have his wholesome relationship with yingying demonized, and him trying to save liu qingge is seen as a murder attempt so you'd think "surely his abuse of binghe was a misunderstanding like everything else" but thats the one part where shen jiu genuinely tried to murder a 14 year old

jason being canonically Not Evil is funny but him somehow managing to use that in fights is even funnier. like the time he ragebaited essence to stab him with her "Warning: Only Use Against Evil" sword so that when she does get him, the sword is like 🤨🤨 ayo that guy is pure of heart tf are you doing and essence gets trapped in the sword as punishment

To me both seasons of the Pitt so far have been about Santos having the worst shift a person can possibly have and when her tank is empty and her walls of sacasm have been pulverized she looks around and finds the person that desperately needs something and gives it. A roof for Whitaker. A fun night out for Mel. In one fell swoop she won the loyalty and friendship of the nicest, kindest people in the ER, and then she goes home, looks in the mirror, and thinks i am evil, i am unlovable

i think every comic fan should have at least 1 favorite character whose characterization peaked 20+ years ago and will probably never recover to their former glory. it builds character.

Me: Jason Todd's issues with the Joker have less to do with revenge, and more to do with blatant systemic failures and feeling like he never mattered in both life and death. Devolving Jason's character to being obsessed with the Joker specifically detracts from his very real grievances. It was never just about killing the Joker. Saying it was is nothing but a cop out that allows the audience and the narrative itself to never have to engage with his feelings or beliefs directly. Also Me: It would be real cool if the Joker disappeared forever, preferably violently.

just spoke with the funniest hater of all time. went to the optometrist, happened to be wearing my hadestown shirt. he asks me about it, I tell him it's a musical and he tells me he hates musicals and lists a few he didn't like. fair enough, but he listed mostly movie musicals, so I tell him that stage musicals are quite different. so he asks for my favorites and a few recommendations, and I also explain to him the differences between seeing a show on tour vs on broadway. I tell him he could check out the local theatre and see what's in the next season, but he says he'd rather just fly to new york and see the broadway show if it's the best version and that he probably wouldn't like it. I tell him that sometimes people will like the tour version better just based on personal preference of singer performance. he says, I don't really like singers, I just don't really like music. I get my eyes dilated. I bum around for 15 minutes before going back. he checks my eyes and shows me that he pulled up a google search of hadestown to read up about it while we were waiting. he tells me again he hates musicals and can't take them seriously, while actively looking at showtimes for hadestown at the walter kerr on broadway. I tell him each musical is very different so he should listen to the recordings of a few songs to see if he likes the vibe of a show before he wastes $200 on a ticket. he says nah I won't do that because I probably wouldn't like it, I just don't like music. the broadway showtimes to hadestown are still pulled up on a browser tab. I cannot emphasize how many times he told me that he doesn't like musicals or music while actively taking my recommendations and planning a theoretical trip to nyc specifically to see a broadway musical that he predicts he will hate. i respect it

there’s a phenomenon when it comes to enjoying a male character in a piece of media where it’s so much fun and i love my blorbo and i want to talk about my blorbo and read analysis of my blorbo but i realize very fast and very hard that the majority of fans made up a version of him that appeals to their horniness and it’s become the popular and standard interpretation and i do not care for that guy at all like i’d beat him with hammers actually
