Oliver: [bracing himself for an onslaught] Mum? Mum pick up…I know you're there. I know you're staring at the- [the other line picks up] Mum?

Kate: [sounding out of breath] Oliver?! Oliver is that you?!

Oliver: Yeah mum, it's me…Sorry I ha-

Kate: You complete /imbecile/!! Do you even KNOW how worried I've been?! I haven't been able to reach ANYONE in that blasted town for days! Your aunt gave me some sort of /farewell/ call and /hung up/ on me and YOU! I get NOTHING from my baby boy who just /had/ to follow our family's RIGHTEOUS lineage all the way to the ends of the earth! Nothing! Not so much as a text saying, 'Hey mum! I might be going off to supernatural war and death and I hope you watch out for Rory! Have a lovely evening!'

Oliver: Mum I-

Kate: Don't you 'mum' me! It was your choice! But did you have to leave me in the dark?? Where in God's green earth have you been?? No- No. I don't want to know. [a pause as she calms down, her voice returning to normal volume] …You're alright? Everything's intact? Your cousin is alright?

Oliver: [waiting until his mother loses her wind] Yes. Everything's still here. We're all still here. [pauses] I'm really sorry, mum. I meant to call. I always call. I /couldn't/ call though. I didn't realize... I'm so sorry. How's Rory? Jack? You? How are you? Have you talked to Aunt Penny?

Kate: [relief is clearly evident in her voice] Everyone's fine here, darling. When are you coming home? [mumbled: when are you giving all of this up?]

Oliver: [his small smile noticeable in his voice] I heard that. [the smile fades] I have to make sure everything here stays safe, make sure nothing worse is coming. I'll call you if I find anything out, I promise. I love you, mum.

Kate: [sighs, knowing his answer] I love you more.

Oliver: I love you times infinity.

Kate: [finally smiles, albeit a small one] You win. Tell your aunt to call me. I need to have a /word/ with her. Call me later?

Oliver: Of course. [waits for his mother to hang up before he presses /end/] I'm so sorry.
