Introducing the Bare Basics Cosplay Ref!

( For those who want to submit their own refs based on their own finished cosplays.) Here’s how it will go:

Character: Bilbo

Cosplayer Pictured: BarrelRiderCreations

Outfit Variant (if applicable): BOFTA Outfit

The Breakdown

- Blue dressing gown (altered)

- Cream fringe for lapel and sleeves. (from spotlight)

- Grey lining (only on edges)

- Dark green vest (purchased at a second hand store) 

- Large white shirt with mandarin collar.

- Brown cargo pants, chopped off just below the knees.

- Grey knitted gloves (fingers cut off)

- Belt with large buckle (pleather and foam. don’t recommend.)

- Mithril is silvery net fabric layered several times over a very large singlet top.

- Coppery wig is from ebay. Can’t find the store.

- Ears are from the Weta store. (get Sams if you have large ears and frodo’s if you have small ones)

- The ring is a cheap copy from etsy.

- Sting is a larp quality version from a store in my town, but can be purchased at cons.

- Not seen are the feet with have bits of crepe hair covering them.

Mad Hatters wig has arrived and it's terrible, no amount of styling can improve it and the lace is fully visible :/ it has positive reviews too.

Okay it’s time to post some photos from Pyrkon!

That was my first time when I show myself in my Sans cosplay (and also first time in my life in cosplay on convention xD). I met a lot of wonderful people and had really great time with them. Also spend a lot of time with my brother Papyrus (@limonthy) and FellSans (@zjedz-goffra) also spend Saturday and Sunday with Gaster (@luckyaddart)

Masquerade mask for glasses wearers

Cheap but effective if you don’t own contacts. I made small hooks that should fall on your glasses if you measure it right. Since it lands on your glasses it shouldn’t scratch you. This only works with really light masks though

Laying out patterns on Fabric

Hi everyone! Today got me thinking a bit and I noticed I haven’t posted anything about how I lay out my patterns on the fabric. Why didn’t I think about doing this post before, like seriously me. Anyways I’ll be doing it now so I hope that makes up for me being silly and not posting it soon.

So a couple of people have over the years asked me, “Hey, how did you make that neat Cry mask?” And to make things easier for me and everyone else, I made this tutorial. :D

So these are all the things ya need -Things for papier maché (there are a lot of different ways, so just go with whatever works for you.) -Balloon  -Scissor  -A knife -Some random brushes -Paint -A pen -Varnish -Some stretch band or just something that you can use so the mask stays on yer face -Sandpaper -Newspaper

As stated before, there are different ways to make papier maché. You can buy it in powder form (like the bag in the picture), or you can make your own. I use wallpaper paste, but whatever works. :3

Rip (or cut) up the newspaper, blow up the balloon and then start applying layers. Make the base a little bigger than your face and don´t make it too thick or too thin. If it´s too thick, it´s gonna be hard to cut through later and you´ll be having trouble breathing in it. If it´s too thin, it´ll break. So try to hold a good balance.

The mask will take quite a while to dry (for me at least). But after that, put the mask on, mark where your eyes are and then cut out some circles with your knife. Take it easy so you don´t hurt yourself, I`ve done that way too many times. “>w>

Cut the edges and sandpaper the mask. This is a pretty important step, cause otherwise the mask will be wrinkly and that´ll look a little weird. (For reference, look at the top picture of this post. My old Cry mask and the MonoCry mask weren´t sandpapered.)

Time to paint. Put on some layers of white, then fix the eyes and the mouth. Then put some varnish on the mask. It´ll help a little against water and the paint will hold better. You can hotglue some fabric in the eye sockets, but that´s optional. Just make sure you´re able to see through them. I glued an antenna on as well, but again, optional. I do recommend putting something soft where the nose is, cause otherwise your nose will be squished. And that sucks. Last thing will be putting on your stretch band.

DONE! You now have your own Cry mask. This works for other kinds of masks as well, so go crazy. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ Hope this was helpful and if you have any questions, just ask. I´d be happy to help.
