Jaime, can we talk? I want to apologize to you in person. I don't want us to continue being upset at eacother, we really need to talk..
Jaime glimpsed at his phone, he was at a park not far away walking, he sighed before opening it and responding.
Yeah, we do need to talk. If you wanna do it now then meet me at that park that’s next to the local markets not far from the school. See you.
Bart read over the message a few times before actually getting up and walking out of the dormitory. He wanted to get this done with, he hated fighting with Jaime.
Once he got to the park, he looked around for a moment, spotting Jaime he walked over to him.
Jaime found Bart walking up to him in the distance, he was sat against a tree, book in his hands now, he closed it as Bart got closer and laid it beside him, he glanced upwards at the ginger boy.
“Hey.” Jaime’s tone was monotone, not much emotion expressed in it but it was like a wall protecting something, and it was fragile.
Bart looked at Jaime, he felt his chest get tight as anxiety settled in as he sat on the grass in front of the other boy. His hands resting on his knees. "Hi.."
Bart sighed softly, "Jaime, I'm really sorry about what I said. I shouldn't have made that into such a big deal, that was entirely my fault. I'm sorry I upset you"
Jaime stared away into the distance, he didn’t really wanna make eye contact, especially now. “Bart…”
Jaime sighed, he glanced up, he was moving his legs from left to right, up and down, he was stressed, he didn’t like it.
“Don’t…don’t apologize I shouldn’t have been this sensitive about a joke, I should be the one apologizing.”
"No. Don't say that, it was something that effected us both, don't be sorry, I was being insensitive, not putting your feelings in the picture. Nothing you did was wrong, you never meant to hurt anyone.."
Bart stared at the grass between them, hands balling into fists on his knees as he just tried to think of the right words.
"I never should have blamed you, I knew, still know what you are going through. I'm so sorry, June bug"
Jaime put a hand on-top of Bart’s own hand, rubbing his thumb against the skin. It was somewhat helping him calm down, and think about how to form his thoughts into words.
“I haven’t been…I haven’t-“
He shut his mouth, he felt water in his eyes. The feeling of his skin growing numb made him shiver.
Flashes of how he killed those men flashed in his eyes and he could even smell the blood, it was terrifying.
Bart looked at Jaime, his free hand going over Jaimes, he started to feel more worried now.
"What happened..? You're not in danger are you? Are you hurt?"
Bart was really worried, he wanted to make sure Jaime was okay. Wanted to make sure there wasn't anything to worry about.
Once Jaime felt the warmth of Bart’s hand on his it was like a boulder came off his shoulders, he knew Bart would understand, or at least try.
“I haven’t been..really truthful about why I ran away..”
With his free hand he rubbed his eyes, trying to hide the fact he wanted to cry.
“On the day I ran away-before that I nearly got robbed when I went to the central of metropolis and-“
It was hard to finish the rest, he choked on his own words.
Bart frowned, he didn't like how this sounded. He moved to sit beside Jaime now, keeping his hand held tight. He wanted to be any kind of comfort for him.
"Hey.., Jaime, it'll be okay, take a breath and explain? I don't want you to keep anything that hurts you a secret.."
Jaime took a big shaky breath, trying to calm his heart rate, he shifted slightly to give more space to Bart.
“I panicked…I panicked because I was scared of what they would do to me-and The scarab, it-“
Jaime paused, he didn’t look at Bart during that moment, he didn’t wanna see his face, he would just crack and start crying if he did.
“..it activated and killed both men…”
He turned his head around to finally stare at Bart.
“I killed 2 people, and i don’t know how I can live with it.”
Bart took a moment, processing the words Jaime had just said. He killed people? He didn't want to believe it, he couldn't believe it.
"No- no, Jaime that wasn't you. It was the scarab, that's what killed them. You didn't want to, you were scared and not in control of what it did, that's not your fault"
Jaime regretted what he confessed, he didn’t want to believe it either but he had killed those 2 men, he had to accept it.
A few tear drops went down his cheeks, he wiped them away, using this excuse to free his hands away from Bart’s.
“Bart-I’m sorry..”
Jaime choked on his words, he didn’t know what else to say except say sorry, because he was, it was his fault, all of it.
Bart kept his hand where it was, incase Jaime wanted to hold it again. He wanted to be there for him, he would be there, no matter what.
Knowing this, what Jaime had gone through, had been living with, it made him feel so bad. He never should have said what he did before, especially not when this is what happend.
"Jaime, it's not your fault. You didn't want to, it wasn't you, don't blame yourself for this. You're okay, ill help you through this"
Jaime calmed down a little, he exhaled and inhaled probably, his breathing slightly less shaky but still weak. He leaned his head to Bart’s, hoping to lay it on his.
“You sure?…You don’t have to, ya know?”
He clammed his eyes shut, trying to get the last of the water out so they would stop stinging.
Bart nodded, leaning to Jaime and grabbing his hand again.
"I'm sure, June bug, I want to. I'll be here for you, no matter what you need, you don't have to be alone anymore "
Jaime sniffled, rubbing his eyes one last time and smiling a little. He squeezed Bart’s hand, feeling it’s warmth.
“I wanted to ask…why are you so scared of me leaving?”
Bart looked away then,
"This isn't about me. I came to talk about you, don't worry about me okay? it doesn't matter"
He looked back to Jaime then, smiling again
"I'm just here for you"
“Bart, it does matter.”
Jaime placed his free hand on Bart’s cheek, lightly tracing the freckles on it with his thumb.
“I wanna be here for you just as much as you’re willing to be here for me.”
Bart leaned his head into the feeling of Jaimes hand, he sighed
"Jaime its nothing, I was just being sensitive. I know you won't leave, or, I'm hoping you won't.. I'm okay, I promise"
Jaime sighed, it tore his heart how he knew Bart was lying slightly and he couldn’t force him to say what was wrong.
“You better be…and if you’re not, you can always tell me.”
He leaned in to kiss Bart’s nose bridge softly, gently pulling Bart’s face with his hand.
Bart would hate to worry Jaime any more about this, especially because it technically wasn't his fault.
"I am fine, junebug. I'm sorry I'm worrying you"
Bart smiled as Jaime pulled him closer, he leaned to the boy to close the gap faster.
"I love you, if it was important I'd say"

You didn't want to, you were scared and not in control of what it did, that's not your fault"

okay google how to not be mad at someone who didn't mean it...
ooc.
Just a little roleplay etiquette housekeeping!
tl;dr:
Don't harass, abuse or suicide bait real people ooc.
Roleplay can get very intense, try to tag comprehensively and negotiate boundaries ooc.
Let someone know if their tags break.
You can stop a roleplay anytime you need to or want to.
If someone ignores your ooc boundaries, block them.
You don't need a reason to block someone.
Firstly, ooc we should always treat each other with respect, dignity and kindness. We don't harass one another, we don't abuse one another, and we absolutely do not encourage harm to each other.
No matter what happens inside a roleplay, no matter if we think we're right, no matter if we think a person deserves it, no matter what:
Do not abuse real people.
I specify real or ooc here because yes, roleplay can get pretty dark and that's okay too.
Roleplay can involve a lot of dark and intense themes, and it's part of what makes writing so good, but we also need to make sure the audience (readers) and our roleplay partners (writers) have tools to keep themselves safe and withdraw consent if they need to.
Tagging is a big part of this, and if in doubt, I always say tag. But it's not infallible: sometimes we miss a tag, or forget, or tumblr eats the tags, these things happen! We can help each other out by reminding or requesting a tag, and then scrolling past.
However, more important than tagging is communication and boundary setting. Even if it doesn't seem like it, roleplay involves a lot of behind-the-scenes communication and ooc consent!
If you're unsure if a plot point is too intense, ask ask ask.
"I don't want to rp this story" is a complete and final sentence.
Remember that saying 'stop' ic isn't the same as saying it 'ooc', though!
(This is even more the case with morally grey, or even villain characters. Asking the Joker not to dip someone in acid may or may not work, but asking his writer should always be a sure thing!)
For example;
If I'm writing with a Joker and Batman is beating the snot out of him, and the Joker yells stop, Batman might not stop- but if the mun says stop, we stop.
From there, the Joker's mun and I could talk about if we wanted to change the direction of the roleplay, or even if we just wanted to end it there- or if we want to retcon it and delete the whole thread!
The Joker Mun could even choose to block me here if I've made them so uncomfortable they don't feel safe roleplaying with me. It is always okay to block.
And if someone doesn't listen to you when you say stop, you absolutely can and should block.
