I think the harm of denying people the right to control their own bodies is so, so much worse than the risk of people regretting the decisions they make. Regretting something you decided to do is a much healthier pain than the pain of regretting that you didn't get to have a choice.
Im a trans guy but I came out to my mom as non binary years ago and she started trying to subtly talk to me about how great women were and how awesome they are and whatever is was VERY not subtle and I expressed how I thought women were great but I just wasn't one but she just kept going as if I was only coming out as non binary cuz I hated women or something anyways safe to say I'm not coming out to her as a guy anytime soon
this is exorsexism and transandrophobia

The assholes openly admit it. The whole point of college is to enforce the hierarchy. When those who were supposed to be low on the hierarchy started going to college, the assholes get angry and want to make them suffer for challenging the hierarchy.
”This portrayal of a marginalized group was wrong then and is wrong now” and “This portrayal of a marginalized group was very progressive for the time period and paved the way for more representation while likely limited by factors outside of the creator’s control” are two statements that can and should ABSOLUTELY coexist and be kept in mind when interacting with older media
