There’s no “rearranging” necessary when it comes to our list of favorite female pop artists this past year. Los Angeles’ Ella Vos has been in its highest ranks and she’s not budging, definitely not after she’s shared a new taste from her highly anticipated debut album set for release this fall. Rearrange is signature Ella Vos… It’s airy sparkling and supple rolling, with feathery and graceful vocals. The singer songwriter says, “‘Rearrange’ is about trying to change yourself in order to fit in or be accepted. I wrote this song after realizing how much time I’d wasted trying to explain myself to someone who was never going to understand me, not just because I was different, but because I wasn’t who they wanted me to be and I never would be.“ We’ll be on the lookout for news about that must have debut album as we progress deeper into fall.

The Japanese House - Saw You In a Dream
New Father John Misty is always reason to celebrate. This is Real Love Baby.
Stalking is all I want to do, as creepy as that may sound, when it comes to this bewitching pop song from NYC chanteuse Stalking Gia. Siren, which the singer songwriter has tagged as “mermaid pop”, is like a magical underwater frolic. Its electronic pop shimmers ever briskly and vivaciously while Gia’s sprightly voice dances across the surface of the song with graceful vitality. Stalking Gia is a ‘siren’ indeed on this infectious gem, which even carries hints of glamorous disco funk within its opulently feathered plumes. For all its effulgent dreaminess, Stalking Gia describes the song as being about “a flesh eating mermaid”. I don’t know about you, but that makes the song even more alluring in my books. In fact, I’d love to learn all about flesh eating mermaids, maybe even watch a dark comedic/twisted romance Netflix series about them. Anyone? And Siren could be the theme song! The cheeky enchanting single follows on last year’s sensational pop hit Second Nature, which spawned so many fabulous remixes. Re-visit Stalking Gia’s prior releases on Soundcloud, here.
