i've received my older-than-me laptop, it's great and working, it's finally summer break, i got the little thingys to put into the next piercing i'll get, i've already redrawn 2 out of 3 of my ocs' facecards/full-body references because i realised how much i've improved in drawing (especially proportions), i plan on finally drawing a face and body for narzan cookie, i've been writing a lot of snipfics (100 word short stories), i've breezed through the first ~1500 words of the first chapter of the fic about the goobers...

the last ~600 words weren't coming easy and it's not finished still. i'm stuck on drawing sweet vermouth's clothed full-body. neither the guitar nor fl studio beckon. i've lost my artistic momentum.

so i was messing around in fl studio mobile and. there

...yeah i don't know how to feel about this.

it started as a thought experiment. i was just musing about how drastically i've redesigned the rest of my cast, and how bismuth basically avoided any major revisions because of how attached i was to their looks.

then i noticed how self-indulgent their design is. like why do they have wings? why are their eyes green? why are they pale? why is their top off-the-shoulder? why are their sleeves comically wide? why purple? why so flowy when they're supposed to be angular? because it looks cool. because they used to be a self-insert and i just put my dream appearance (at the time) on them and called it a day.

then i imaniged what they'd look like if i designed them now, knowing what i know now, thoughtfully and meticulously and with research and references and shit. when i started drawing it i was like "it's just going to be a sketch, i'm not actually changing their design, it's too iconic" but here we are.

so, the revisions i've made:

— no wings because why would they have any

— not pale. blue-ish grey because there's a disease called bismuthea or whatever and it makes your skin that color and i thought it looked neat.

— no longer are they just vaguely asian, i (made up my mind about what culture to base them on and) went full vietnamese

— less emphasis on elegance because that was random.

— trident because it's (one of) the alchemical symbol(s) for bismuth

— changed hair to look more like actual bismuth crystals (struggled a lot)

— blue eyes because bismuth burns blue (in oxygen)

— pose no longer traced from a black sapphire sprite

i've had enough redesigns. i've redesigned 3 out of 4 members of my cast. i don't need another one. i am too emotionally attached to bismuth's current design to completely change it now. their current design is too iconic to change it now. i can't redesign them. i don't want to redesign them. i don't need to redesign them. i don't need to redesign them i don't nEED to REDESIGN THEM I DON'T

she's such a cute virtue oh boy i sure do hope no self-fulfilling prophecies of corruption will happen to her

so quick story. keeper of fate was created along with the five other virtues, but not by a witch! a wizard. i believe their main ingridient is either stardust or life powder? probably stardust.

they were good friends with fount of knowledge, herald of change and saint of volition, in that order.

somewhere before chaos™ engulfed the earthbread, she had a kid with someone named spiced mugwort cookie, placed the baby into the "more progressive" future (in hopes to change their fate, poor soul, doesn't yet know that she can't). then her husband dies of old age, that's when the isolation soft-launched.

in the scarce times she showed her face, she was seeing the strange behaviours of fount, hearing (terrible things) about herald but not from him... so she couldn't resist morbid curiosity and decided to look into her own distant future. just a peek.

but what she saw is a story for another day.

also i ordered some cheap ass old ass used laptop (cost me like 20$) so that i could wtite somewhere else than my phone. like an average author. because i'm making a novel about these little edible shits, apparently
