just wanted to have another place to put all my things, Iāve been lurking for so long. This blog will mostly run on a queue.
Itās a sideblog, bc my personal tumblr has some very different vibes and I do wanna keep it all in different rooms.
Iāll post original writing/fanfic, as well as links to my hrpf on ao3 (where you can find me under the same username), and also inspiration and some research links. I do occasionally reblog NSFW things, so you know proceed with however much caution youād like.
Anon is always on if you wanna say hi or ask anything!

random random but one of my fav parts of your fics is how you include small details. it seems everything has been thought out and planned thoroughly, especially the scenery details. my cousin lives in boston and i have gone to visit her a couple of times but they way you wrote your newest fic it felt like i was transported back there when you mentioned specifics like the chelsea river. anyways i have been trying to get into writing more and i love the way you write the scenery that i wanted to ask how do you make it feel so real? maybe you have lived like everywhere so its easy to pull from real life but im guessing you do a ton of research too??
anyways i love your fics sm!!
Hello!! Thank you so much for the ask, I love that you notice those little details! Itās my favorite part of writing, getting into the physical world of it.
I do think some of the way I write scenery is just that Iāve traveled to a lot of places, mostly to see hockey if Iām being completely honest. And of course thereās so much research, but a lot of writing with details has just come from living and looking around and talking to people.
My two best places to get concrete information on a city are actually google maps and reddit believe it or not. Thatās the short answer! Iāll go into more detail under the cut if youāre interested in the itty bitty semantics. Itās a lot of info, so uh proceed when you have the time.
When I learned how to research and build a world in college (s/o to my English majorrrrr), my professor stressed that you needed first hand or primary accounts, especially if youāre story is either third person limited or first person and youāre not writing from personal experience (I exclusively write in third limited).
You donāt have to only write what you know. You can write what you learn too. Just have to take the time to learn.
Reddit gives you that primary source - people recommending restaurants, bars, what neighborhood to live in. People are bitching about construction, posting photos of weird birds, local memes, really beautiful sunset and weather photos. Missed connections at kink events and concerts. Complaining about internet companies or power going down, about loud neighbors. Youāll pick up slang, nicknames for places and things, and how people really feel about the public transit in their city.
Reddit really only works for modern stories though, any kind of historical or period stuff you need to do some digging digging, I usually start with the Internet Archive, as well as just personal blogs and sub stacks.
(I also sometimes build my own slang index but thatās extra and Iām a nerd and I fucking love language and slang)
Google maps is fucking invaluable because you get to know a city by walking around in it. And since I have literally never been to Boston (Logan airport layover doesnāt count), I spent a lot of time just by zooming around google earth, and I was able to walk where my characters walk, travel the right paths, pick apartments and places for them to work, figure out where the trains and buses could take you, find landmarks, etc etc etc.
Best example I have from Raise Hell: I picked Mattās apartment off of his job. I wanted to give him a third shift stocking shelves, so I picked a convince store that looked like the bodegas and corner stores that I love and frequent, then found an apartment close by, and then everything else followed. I hope that makes sense.
Is it so lame if my writing advice is to go outside? Walk around, ride the bus, talk to people, make friends who are from places youāve never been. And if you donāt live in a big city, read and listen to and just consume the content of the people who do. Absorb it all. Write with confidence.
Had a poetry professor tell me once that nothing good is written in an Ivory Tower. You have to live.
I hope that answers your question, sorry itās so long <3
you would think, like, "oh, we've already thought of all the metaphorical ways we can say penis/vagina. we've already come up with the full list of nicknames. we have exhausted the list of innuendos. there is nothing else new to be said about this" and then you'll open a random explicit fic and make the most improbable linguistic discovery of all time
happy weekend quincy!! can't believe it's the weekend again, time is so weird lately. for your ask game, may I please request 12 and 19? <3
Hiiiii
(thank you for resending this sorry I deleted it by accident š)
12. A trope youāre really into right now
Iāve been reading a lot of biological BDSM fic recently, just cause Iām getting back into writing tall kids and reaaaalllly exploring Gabe and Mattās whole dom/sub thing. Looking for inspiration and tropes and structure of sex scenes and that stuff.
19. The most interesting topic youāve researched for a fic?
Well the whole cowboy thing has become a huge undertaking that Iāve really, really enjoyed. Iām reading a couple of books I found on the Internet archive just so I can build tone and slang and get the vibes for what it was like working and living out in the Wild West, especially how the USA American archetype was even beloved up in Canada, and what a Canadian Cowboy life was like.
Literally been building a slang index for myself, just cause I love that kind of shit.
always such a struggle when you get to the sex scene part of the fic you're writing and you're not horny at all. i don't know. their things were touching. without ANY underwear. the end.
I saw your ask game and I wasnāt sure if it was limited to those questions but in case itās not I submit twoš„¹
if you had to write a sequel to a fic, youād write one forā¦?
And what inspired you to write do not run??
Hi!!! You can always ask whatever you like tbh, the ask game posts are just cause I wanna encourage people to come say hi āŗļø
If I had to write a sequel to a fic (that doesnāt already have a sequel) it would be for time to raise hell or walk on by. Gabeās gotta get a hobby when heās playing househusband in Jersey right???
What inspired me to write do not run??
I had just read this soulmate goose sidgeno fic and just found the idea so odd and charming and I wanted to see if I could write my own soulmate goose story. Also Iāve had a few run ins with Canadian Geese and you could not fucking pay me to go anywhere near one again. Terrifying creatures.
