But I'll die on this hill that Jack/Jackson is a possible middle name or at the very least he thought the name Jack was a cool name not to expose his identity because of how smart he is 👀

I'm still firmly in the camp that his name actually is Jack/Jackson, but he picked "Handsome Jack" for his alias when he was either a teenager or a young adult just because it sounded cool, and it took a few years for him to realize that might not have been the best idea. But he was already an established hero at that point, so he couldn't just change his name to "Radiation Man" (or something, I don't know) because that would a) be confusing for people who aren't obsessed with keeping up with superheroes b) every hero, villain, and fangirl was calling him Jack anyway, so the damage was done. Eventually he did change his name to "Gamma Jack" because that matches his powers and is more unique.

Also because I did a lot of research on American names of the early to mid-20th century and found out there were hundreds of thousands of people named Jack, about 1 out of every 400 men. So even if supervillains knew his name was Jack/Jackson, that wouldn't really narrow it down enough for them to actually find him.

(Though regardless of his actual name, I do wonder why Pixar gave him this alias since there's already a character named Jack-Jack in the movies. We can make head canons for it, but I really want to know what actually happened with making this guy!)

as for why Pixar chose to name him Jack when Jack-Jack already exists, I kind of have a theory that that was the point. If Bob’s mentor was “Nimble Jack,” and one of his best friends was also named Jack, it makes sense that his kid would be named after those two.

Hey, I've been reading "under your skin" and I was wondering when the next chapter is being posted?

Hi! I’ve been meaning to finish it, but I just broke off a year and a half long relationship that was really emotionally taxing and just so terrible for both of us, so I’m not in the best headspace to be writing a romance where the two parties are in a complicated situation of their own😭. I think i’ll write some kind of super self indulgent one shot to cleanse my system so that chapter 21 won’t be tainted by my bitterness.

Short answer is hopefully soon but i’m infamously unreliable with that shit LMAO.
