When Alesha Randolph wants to post a selfie on Instagram, she knows there’s only one filter that is flattering to her skin tone: Sierra. Yes, Instagram filters can work against people of color.  But Randolph, a senior designer at Vox, and her fellow designers and engineers were tired of accepting it as a given. So they developed Tonr, a photo-editing desktop app built to enhance and affirm nonwhite skin tones.

Decided to try okcupid again just for shits and giggles. So far 95% of the people contacting me have only been interested in my genitals. How do I know that, you ask? Because as soon as I mention that I’m not into sex - despite “asexual” being clearly listed in my profile - they go mysteriously silent or attempt to keep the discussion on sex with the ever-endearing “maybe you just aren’t doing it right, wink wink, nudge nudge, hur hur hur.”

So Dad's in a ton of pain with dental problems he is convinced he can't get fixed becauae he doesn't have insurance. Mom is busy with her online work stuff. I have a multitude of physical and mental shit going on and I'm trying to keep Dad in one piece and me in one piece and it feels like Mom has lost her compassion/interest in any of it and the whole thing really fucking sucks because I could just really use a mom right now.
