âOh, my gym was on the second floor, so I just thought - No, yeah youâre probably right.â She nods as she listens to him, outwardly cool but inwardly enthusiastic about her correct guess.âYeah,â she says with a smile, a light laugh escaping her lips before she has the chance to catch herself. She wasnât offended, after-all it wouldnât be the first time something like this had happened to her. âDonât worry, I know where Miami is.â She eyes him with both amusement and confusion. She didnât mean to make him so anxious. Was she intimidating? Was it her expression? She wonders if heâll calm down if she tells a joke. She snorts, playfully rolling her eyes. âWhat? No, Iâm from Idaho. We all sound like this in my townâŠYeah, no, Iâm French.â She laughs again to reassure him, but continues the joke, imitating his voice in her best American accent. âWhich is in Europe. Itâs that one country to the West, you know? Like, below the kingdom. The United Kingdom, I mean.â
âYou had a gym on your second floor? Sounds fancy,â he winks. Sebastianâs face flushes with embarrassment, because of fucking course he has managed to make a fool of himself- In front of a cute girl, too. âRight, obviously you do...â He casts his eyes to the ground, muttering to himself, as he half listens to Tillie make a joke- At your expense. âFucking kill me...â He continues to mumble, until he hears a wonky American accent and something similar to his own words. Peering up, he canât fight the smile creeping onto his face. He stops in his tracks and barks a laugh. âOkay, touchĂ©, touchĂ©. Sorry about that,â he apologizes, throwing a sheepish grin in Julietteâs direction. âI guess, because your accent is pretty heavy, I thought you wouldnât be familiar with the U.S, you know?â Itâs a cute accent, though, he thinks as he begins walking again. âSo, where are you originally from, Tillie?â He absently asks, while he refocuses on the task at hand and peeks into passing rooms.

Tillie noticed Sebastian giving her an odd look and she immediately blushes from embarrassment. She clears her throat before responding. âYeah youâre probably right. I came from the left hall, so maybe letâs try the right? We could try going upstairs too.â She waits for his approval before she starts down the right corridor. After a moment of silence, she turns to him. âSo, mysterious Sebastian,â she begins, smiling and giving the boy a slight wiggle of her eyebrows. âWhere are you from? The accent says United States, and the tan says the south or California⊠Am I close?â
âDo you think they would put a gym on the second floor?â He wonders aloud, but follows down the right corridor after Tillie. He supposes nothing would be too strange, they are in a mental institute- More like loony bin... Sebastian lets out a quiet sigh, only catching half of Julietteâs question. âOh. Um, yeah sort of?â He smiles weakly and shakes his head, trying to clear his mind. âIâm from Miami, which is in Florida, which is in the south. Itâs that one state that sticks out into the gulf, you know? The Gulf of Mexico, I mean.â Sebastian rambles a bit, then realizes something too late. Sheâs from a different country, sheâs not an idiot. Presumption much. âShit, no, I mean,â he blushes, his ears heating. âYou seem smart, you j-just sound foreign, like French or Russian?â He gives the girl an apologetic glance, âSorry... Iâm not usually an asshole, I swear.â But arenât you?
she had been in this facility for three days now and she had already grown restless. the nurses were getting on her nerves with their invasiveness and all she wanted to do was go back home to her family and friends. her morning had been spent in group therapy and after feeling like her head was going to explode, she knew she needed to relax. taking a book from her small pile, nicole made her way out of her room and to the lobby of the facility. it had been a pretty quiet day so far so she figured no one would bother her while she tried to get some reading done.
sebastian hated Recupero. it hadnât taken long â only the few hours he had been there â for him to form his opinion. even though he had only been given a lousy tour and met with some dr. wynn, he was exhausted. he really disliked everything the facility stood for- no, what it pretends to stand for. sebastian had finally escaped the watchful eye of a nurse (who he could only assumed was assigned to babysit him on his first day), and all he wanted to do was light up. he knew he wasnât supposed to be smoking, but he would be damned if he had to experience all of this without the occasional cigarette. he was making his way through the lobby when he noticed a girl. âhey!â he winced at the loudness of his voice. looking behind him and then glancing at the lobby exit, he cleared his throat. âhey, sorry, um do you... do you work here?â
tilliesquared:
âNice to meet you too,â she says smiling, fingers curling behind her ear to tuck a lock of hair. Her eyes grow wide with excitement at his words âOh, thanks!â She chirps. No one had ever told her that before. It was a nickname she had chosen for herself years ago, but had never been given the opportunity (or approval) to use. Now, miles and miles away from her old life, she figured she could start anew. And to start it all off? Her name. âHey, uh, this might be a really strange question to ask considering we just met and all, but do you think you could come with me? To like, find the gym? Unless you are busy or something, I know this was al sort of out of the blue. Or, I mean, you probably have cooler things to do than walk around this facility.â
Sebastian just sort of...stares at Juliette. Sheâs peppy, he notes. Theyâre all peppy, idiot. Everyone he had met so far at the facility was much too peppy for his liking. Which he figured was fine, itâs whatever, because he wouldnât be here long anyway. He rolls his eyes and fondly smiles at Tillie, âI donât really think thereâs many âcoolâ things to do around here to begin with.â He looks down the hallway again, it would be okay if he didnât meet with the head doctor right way... He could spare some time. âRight, so which way did you come from? If we go the opposite way, Iâm sure weâll eventually find it.â
Sebastian snorted at the thought of the tour, âI stopped listening halfway throughâŠâ Honestly, he hadnât been listening from the beginning. Sebastian felt dazed since the moment his mother dropped him off at the airport in Miami. He would be lying if he said he wasnât angry about the way his family abandoned him. Especially when he was still reeling from the lost of his brother. But, now, he was just in a neutral daze. His mind somewhere back home on a familiar sandy beach⊠âHa, yeah right, âsecond homeâ my assâŠâ He mumbled to himself, before turning his attention back to the girl. âSebastian, nice to meet you⊠Tillie? Cute nickname.â He mused as he finally, truly looked at Juliette.
âHey -â The girl says, attempting to grab the attention of the other person. Her voice is hasty, but polite. âIâm sorry to bother you, but do you know where the gym is? Iâve walked around this place for twenty minutes and I canât find it.â Juliette laughs lightly, slightly apologetically. âThe place is just so âŠdamn big.â
Sebastian jumps a bit at the sound of the girlâs voice. âOh, umâŠâ He frowns, looks down the hall and then glances in the other direction. The crease between his eyebrows deepens as he looks back at the girl, slightly shaking his head. âThe short answer is no.â He chuckles at himself, the tips of his ears turning pink. âThe long answer is that Iâm actually lost, too. Iâm new and, uh, all of thisââ He quickly raises his hands and makes a vague gesture. ââis new to me.â
âare you as weak as me, if not, do you wanna be?â
Iâm too exhausted to explain my soul to someone again.
