The firstborn daughter of Prince Daemon Targaryen and Lady Laena Velaryon, Baela was said to be fearless, wilful and provocative. Growing up on Dragonstone, she was said to enjoy wrestling squires, dancing, hawking, and riding on her dragon Moondancer.

Betrothed to Prince Jacaerys Velaryon, had he survived the Dance she may have been his Queen. When he went to battle, she wished to ride by his side on dragon back, and was a dauntless supporter of his mother Queen Rhaenyra.

Having herself slain the dragon Sunfyre at the cost of Moondancer, after Aegon II's death the council considered her as heir to the throne, only for her half-brother, and eventually nephews', claims to take precedent.
