I don't know who needs to hear this, but butchfemme and lesbian culture isn't the same in every place in the world. Some of you talk of UK or USA butchfemme culture as if they're the center of the world, but please care to read about how lesbians from other parts of the world lived and continue to live, specially lesbians from third world countries, conservative countries or countries where homosexuality is still illegal.

People don't really understand our identities. They always claim the front line at the pride parade, they always ask your pronouns whenever they see your dyed hair and piercings, they will make lgbtq flags pins and sell it for some absurd price while talking about your own identity like you're some kind of kid that doesn't understand what it means to be yourself.

It's very important you don't let these people define what it means to be you.

It doesn't matter how much of an ally they are, they show their true colors once you open your mouth, and instead of saying "gay rights" you talk about what makes you a woman, a man, something in between, or none of that at all.

Sometimes it's difficult to feel yourself on your own skin, now imagine having to explain it to others in a way it makes sense because if you don't, you don't exist to them.

Because they only care about those experiences that are similar to theirs, they only care about how "correct" your identity is according to their standards, their little heads can't comprehend that there are differences inside the differences, and even with that, humans will be humans no matter how they identify.

So don't let them ever correct you, don't let them stomp you, your identity doesn't have to be "comfortable" to be valid, the way you express yourself doesn't have to be logical neither it has to make sense; you only have to be enough to yourself, and that's all that matters.

Happy trans visibility day, even if it's quite late. Be loud and be proud.🤍
