Describes how I don’t really feel that in control of my femininity. I carry it around, unwieldy, like a cumbersome trunk, unsure of how to make best use of it. It confuses me, I feel like a stereotypical 1950s bachelor, holding a crying baby at arm’s length, like – “what do I do with this?“ it feels kind of comical

A new route to John 14:23

Scrolling, scrolling, scrolling, scrolling. Hoping my thumbs will find some answers

Hoping someone will post a solution more real than a statement that panders to expectations of solidarity

"Thoughts and prayers with those affected."

Looking desperately for evidence of you reflected in my phone screen.

But all I find is more fuel for the droning scream,

A yawning chasm of inadequacy

It's not enough, it doesn't make it better.

I often yearn for you to appear, accurate to the letter

No ambiguity, unequivocal, undeniable, no argument to be had, end of story.

Cos it's like we're treading water here, buffering, in some awful holding pattern. waiting for this glory (ous redemption, retribution) that may or may not come

I feel your tears stinging my eyes

I feel your fist clench in my hand

I feel your heart ache in my chest

And maybe that's when i start to understand

You were in those bags of clothes taken to the churches for the people who had so recently lost their homes

You were in the sandwiches handed out for free, in the hugs, the held hands of a community's grief

You were in the voices of those speaking out of the wrongness ignored for years, in the handwritten notes crying out for justice.

You're here in the words of those who ask why, in the minds those of those who refuse to lie, in the tenacity of those who refuse to leave it alone.

You're here in us, where you've made your home.
