This post relates to society and class because it demonstrates the growing wealth divide around the world. The tech industry is growing exponentially quicker than any other industry and making people billions of dollars in mere years, and yet things like the minimum wage and tax policies that favor the wealthy have stagnated for decades. If Zuckerberg and Bezos could make in two years what Warren made in 25, there is a clear change in society that should encourages the growing class divide.

This post relates to society and class, because in a very humorous way, it points out the irony of our society and how we decide to spend our money. When Notre Dame burned, billions of dollars were donated instantly by incredibly wealthy people, however, when it comes to concerns over the environment (Amazon burning, glaciers melting, Australia fires) people (especially billionaires) choose not to donate nearly as much money. You would presume that the environment would be more important to save, however it is the ancient building that is supported.

These photos relate to Afrofuturism because they are a compilation of strong, fierce, people of color adorned in fantastical, sci-fi-esque wardrobes. The different head adornments, makeup, and eye ware all have a technological look to them, but they are also very interesting and appealing to look at. It shows an intersection between black empowerment and future technology/innovations.

Over MLK weekend I read The Children of Blood and Bone, which is a YA fantasy novel set in fictional world based on Africa. I chose this image of the main character because it presents her in a very strong, powerful pose. It represents afrofuturism through the integration of African culture and the distopian world of the book.

This photo represents Afrofuturism by connecting the soft, pretty elements of flowers with elements of science through the three eyed reflective glasses and the galaxy hair. She also has both straight hair and her natural curl pattern, which incorporates her culture. This is also demonstrated with the cut and patterning of her top.
