Bloodmoon looks down while he slowly treads through the sewers Waters each step blood moon just hopes that she doesn't step in shit...or run into Monty with her stupid new equipment

*Squash* "FUCK! I stepped in shit!" Bloodmoon angrily shouts

"brother...look ahead of you..." Crimson whispers in fear

Bloodmoon looks up seeing a giant gator looking like one of the damn Monty's in of her nightmares he could have sworn half of its body was just a giant mouth

"I-is that Monty?" Bloodmoon whispers in fear

Bloodmoon tries to move or simply just say something, anything...nothing they just stand there like an idiot waiting to be SHOT

The thing slowly moves closer into the light it's not monty it looks nothing like Monty especially because she would never look that gentle

"Who are you?" Crimson asks it in awe

The thing points at itself before answering "W-waylon, uh you're not scared of me?" Waylon asks confused

"No we have seen much worse..." Bloodmoon says tiredly

Waylon slowly moves closer to them looking closer at them in the light "you're not human are you..."

"No we are not anywhere near those fleshy humans" crimson says calmly

"...we're tired of being hunted for the crime of existing..." Bloodmoon says leaning into Waylon neck

Waylon hugs bloodmoon tightly "I am to... I am to"

"We're just kids, what did we do to deserve this other then being hungry!" Crimson yells before he and bloodmoon start to sob

"WE'RE ONLY 11 WAYLON WE'RE NOT EVEN TEENS!" Bloodmoon sobs into Waylon arms

waylon just holds them before saying "you don't deserve ANY of this..."

Ah, poor, BloodMoon. At least, they found a friend in Waylon. A big massive friend, but a friend nonetheless.

I shall dub this chapter "Not monsters"

I saw a post recently about how people don't really research anatomy or physiology when creating ocs or any sort of character that has a story where their body has been changed, either physically or chemically, but they are still conveniently attractive and some additions to anatomy aren't explained why and I really wish researching this kinda stuff was normalized.

I think it's the reason why I can't wrap my head around Jason Todd/Red Hood as a character.

Jason Todd is an interesting character in terms of story and overall world building, but I have an issue with most iterations of Jason having him post lazarus pit very attractive

"Oh but the lazarus pits are able to fully heal a person/their injuries" Yeah but the human body never heals the same. He would not have a perfect bone structure again, he wouldn't have the same hair (also the stupid hair hair tuffs/streaks are just so annoying on a character unless they are an aged character), he wouldn't have the same structure in anything where he was tortured. I can't look at this character to be told anything about him except that he's connected to batman. If Jason had any sort of accurate scars or deformities from his death or from the lazarus pit, he would be more visually interesting than just "generic pretty boy with secret hidden trauma".

I think the best recent example of character design done well for a character that has experienced physical changes but is still visually interesting is Absolute Penguin.

His design is simply perfect for visual story telling and if someone who doesn't know his story looks at him will go "Woah! What happened to that guy?" And be intrigued by just looking at him.

Anyway, moral of the rant is, try to do research for character design if you're trying to make a character with changed anatomy. It might be uncomfortable to look up or something that you don't care about, but it's extremely important for storytelling and in art to understand what you write translates into what you create

(also the media should stop making tortured characters attractive because it's more profitable, give me a good, well thoughout design AND story and then we'll talk)
