atomicpunch:
“ Yeah, I guess. ”
Calvin leans into her hug, half-heartedly returning it. His mom is just one of many things that have been weighing heavy on his mind lately- but she is certainly the biggest.
“ I just kinda wish I was there lookin’ out for her, yanno? I mean, I know she’s got all my brothers and shit, but… I hate not bein’ there for her when there’s so much shit goin’ on. Between her gettin’ sick, n’… ”
He sighs deeply.
“ Guess Frank is gonna be in town. ”
“Yeah, I know. I was th’ same way when my ma was sick...”
Selina stiffens, almost too noticeably, when Calvin mentions his dad. With any luck, he’ll assume it’s because of their mutual hatred of the man; Selina spent almost as much time around Frank as Calvin did.
In all honesty, Selina’s probably spent more time around Frank than any of his actual kids. His old man’s been hiding out in Washington almost since Selina was forcibly moved there at 12. Her father and Frank had always been close, and so he had hung around them a lot.
Calvin doesn’t know anything about that though, and Selina’s not exactly eager to share that information.
“Oh....why? I mean- he never really shows up ‘less he wants somethin’, right?”
