The whole episode felt like it was made maliciously with the idea of "This is why Loustat is superior to Loumand". Before the torture scene, one could argue they were in similar levels, especially because they didn't dispute Lestat's willing participation in the trial plus his not saving Claudia regardless. The drop and San Francisco clearly mirrored each other as well. But after this, it feels that they made Armand inflict this level of violence on Louis, which is not canon in the books (he only feels this level of vitriol for Lestat), to be like "see? Armand is so much worse to Louis than Lestat who if you think about it loves him the way he should be loved , here's Louis' beloved dead brother to tell you so, who btw is in heaven so clearly a good person with good judgment!". Nevermind that they accidentally implied Lestat killed him by having him there like morons.

Also fuck Lesmand now, that relationship barely matters, and what should have been their dynamic we're gonna give to Loumand who already had a interesting dynamic and didn't need more big events, let alone violent ones. Let's also make Armand seem uniquely violent towards his non-white partner and make him do nothing to his white ex who he was supposedly obsessed with and resentful as hell.
