This season made my love and understanding of Loumand grow tenfold. My favorite Gothic horror romance of all time.
TVC vampires exist beyond monogamy, sorry. It's just as essential as the queerness. Keep your "one true love bullshit" away from the vampire chronicles, please and thank you. Their emotions are heightened and they feel very deeply for one another. They're ravenous for connection and one love doesn't negate the other. The series is full of overlapping attachments. I'm baffled by how this season refuses to flesh out and spend proper time on developing relationships that aren't "endgame" (which ive always thought was a stupid term when talking about a series thats iconic for its clearly panromantic and polyamorous characters🙄).
The dynamics in TVC are a rich interwoven web. If you fuck up adapting one, its going to effect the others. Properly adapting Lesmand makes Loumand and Loustat even juicer. Understanding the nuances of Marimand makes Devil's Minion hit harder.
This isnt Twilight
Crazy how much beautiful storytelling in the costume and set design we lost.
Like, the dubai penthouse adds so many layers of complexity and raises so many juicy questions about loumand and how they spent their years together. The set design compliments the nuanced acting from Jacob and Assad perfectly.
no. nuh-uh. absolutely not. these writers have NOT earned the right to insert any sort of conversation about the mutual toxicity of loumand into their show
They're trying to pull the mutual abuse card. I cant believe my eyes. Insane misunderstanding of the power dynamics in Dubai and Paris.
People got into TVL/IWTV and now are mad that they're watching a gothic romance horror show. Yeah guys that's what it is, it isn't bad for being that and maybe you're just not the target audience.
Just say youre a fucking racist. No need to hide behind the "im a gothic romance understander" bullshit.
I keep trying to distract myself around the house but i just can’t stop crying. The sheer cruelty and gleeful cynism surrounding louis’ treatment is incomprehensible in its magnitude and overtness. it feels impossible to reconcile the compassionate treatment of louis and claudia’s abuse of the previous seasons with the horrifically mean-spirited antiblack and anti-victim writing we’ve had to endure for weeks. As it all settles, there is no way to view any of this other than through the lens of these writers vehemently hating louis and the people who dared regard him with love and empathy by pandering to the most racist confines of this online space.
My heart aches for jacob and the exploitation of his time, talent, and care for louis. My heart aches for the black writers who have to see their work desecrated for cheap twitter jokes and embarrassing failed attempts at virality. My heart aches for the black fans who love louis and earnestly wanted to see his story treated with the same level of care and respect afforded to his abusers and then having to sit through that violence.
Now more than ever, hannah moscovitch’ words saying that "louis would never not be believable as a victim" sound hollow and deliberately cruel and I can only hope this writing team will in time feel a fraction of the humiliation they inflicted on their audience for the crime of loving louis. I’m just absolutely gutted.
Something something Lestat using vampirism as a way to liberate Louis and Gabrielle from the suffering they experience from oppressive social systems, but he doesn’t have an understanding of how these systems operate and he doesn’t really care to learn. Mostly because learning would require him to reckon with the ways he both perpetuates and benefits from these systems something something
#And then you discovery that actually these experiences with the oppressive systems will not only continue to happen but have made #it so that understanding your loved ones in their entirety is impossible for you
Ooooo I didn’t think of that. In erasing some of the barriers separating them from him biologically(and in his mind socially), he forever cuts off his access to their internal worlds and ability to understand them as beings apart from himself.
And you know what….of course he thinks of his whit- I mean blood as an elevating force that dismantles silly human concepts like patriarchy and racism. As a human, he’s a white attractive man with blonde hair and blue eyes from an aristocratic family (a waning one but still). He was already high up on the food chain and vampirism elevated him even higher. Plus, we have Daddy Magnus and Daddy Marius further instilling these beliefs. plus Daddy Gabrielle. Elevating the downtrodden and marginalized is his birthright🙄
If he actually learned about how white supremacy functions and engaged in some self reflection, he’d start making connections between that ideology and his own assault/trauma/exploitation/etc. It’s an ideology that ultimately sees him as a body/tool to be used and directly ties in with him being hypersexualized since youth.
There is no racism in the Savage Garden🤓☝🏻
The writers scrapped all this rich commentary so they could call Louis a piece of Kentucky fried chicken and a nappy headed slave....
I'll never stop talking about the beauty and complexity of loumand bdsm. You could sew my mouth shut. Cut off all my fingers. I'll never shut up about it.
Loumand bdsm so beautiful. Rolin Jones had to try and kill you. But he failed:)
You can't take out the earnestness and sincerity of the bench scene. No matter how hard you try.
Two traumatized individuals coming together to make someone new and healing. No matter how flawed it may be.
Me when Im reading a Devils Minion fic and the author starts mischaracterizing and demonizing Louis:
Well........
My annotated copy of TVL from th room.
pick a page number and i'll check to see if there's anything funny i highlighted, underlined, or made note of
What page does Louis get called a nappy headed slave?
the only time the csa survivor can get any compassion is by literally wrenching it out of someone who is actively being tortured. this is beyond tone deafness, it's deliberate cruelty.
Im actually distraught. I dont know if I can even engage with the iwtv seasons anymore. The drop and the trial were just excuses to make a spectacle out of black pain. It was never about actually empathizing with Louis and Claudia. If their pain can't be used to uplift the white lead, the writer's don't care and they expect the audience not to care either. The writers are fixated on humbling and racially demeaning Louis. All while removing any commentary on white supremacy they could've made with Lestat, Magnus, and Marius.
Louis ends the season apologizing to one of his abusers AGAIN. He's a punching bag, pimp, and frigid bitch. The most racist A03 fic come to life.
Armand branded Louis because he's been compared to a Nazi for 2 seasons straight. Right...right. Silly me
Rolin Jones would've figured out a way to have Louis apologize to Santiago's ghost if Ben Daniels would've agreed to come back.
So i have to watch Armand say he loved organizing and participating in Louis's lynching..... AND THEN watch Louis apologize to Armand and say his "coldness and denial" is the reason for Armand's actions......
Rolin Jones hates abuse victims oh my god.
At least the s3 Louis humiliation tour is over. What a loathsome end to a truly loathsome season of tv. Paul showing up to comfort Lestat was really the rotten cherry on top of the garbage heap. Laughably hacky writing. Not even gonna get into all the racism because im sure most ppl dont care and im tired of talking about it.
