Deep down, Tanith’s essentially still a good person…and deep down, I’m not.

Oh! Yeah, I’m pretty confident about… [gestures to her body] all of this.

Let’s have story time, this is where I probably make the biggest out of character post that I’ve made in a long time. Welcome to the roleplay community- this is a place where people write fiction based on book series, tv series, shows, ideas that come to them, practically anything which includes themes that are influenced by things that happen in the real world. Unfortunately, our world is not made out of marshmellows and rainbows, bad shit happens in real life, and that is reflected in the writing of some roleplayers- some roleplayers will write DARK THEMES, and that is THEIR CHOICE. Their choice of what they want to write, is not a decision that is made by you, nor is it something they need to run by you. Some dark themes include triggering topics; for example; gore, torture, rape, assault, murder- there’s a lot; and these events occur in real life, and some people choose to include them in their writing- and that is their decision. Sometimes roleplays will touch on topics that argued about, or that are touchy, or topics that are a range of things- by these i mean things like racism and other topics ( I’m sure you can pick up which ones I mean given how people react to them ), that is, again, the choice of the writer; it is up to them whether they want to write it, or if they’d prefer not to. There are also writers who play DARK CHARACTERS; this means that they are not nice, whether it be a hidden trait or one they blatantly display- these characters might make light of situations that other people deem serious- they might engage in activities that people find unsavoury ( for example; incest ), it is again, the choice of the writer as to whether or not they want to write about it. You are not in control of what a person writes. Just because it’s written, does not mean the writer; supports it, believes in it themselves, or anything- a person’s writing and the themes they use is not a sign of what the writer themselves believe; it is not something to judge them by. What they write is based on the characters they write and their views and their beliefs- but not the beliefs of the writer. I understand that some things may upset you, that things might trigger you or make you cringe ; every person has something that bugs them or upsets them or just generally makes them feel crappy- my advice for this is to block it. Block the word for your trigger, have things in place ( like tumblr saviour ) to help remove those things from your dash. If it upsets you, don’t follow blogs that write about that thing; if a blog you follow changes and begins to write about things that upset you constantly, feel free to unfollow them. What you should not do is; go into the writer’s ask box and harass them, send them messages saying that they should kill themselves or that people don’t care about them, try and make them change their blog to suit you. You should also try and not make “call out” posts to stir up drama or to try and turn other people against them- because really, it’s not up to you to say that they’re going to upset others; people can make that decision for themselves without your input ( I probably should add something here about how you shouldn’t make “call out blogs” just to shit on somebody. ). At the end of the day people can write what they want, you can avoid what you don’t want to see, and people can make their own decisions about who they want on their dash and who they want to roleplay with.
