This is my recovery notebook. In here I write about key events in my day, daily tasks I completed which I may not have been able to this time last year, any symptoms (flashbacks or panic attacks) the amount of sleep I'm getting, my overall mood and a brief overview of my day. I do this as my therapist suggested it to track my progress. This is because she thinks I am focusing on the bad days and not looking at the whole picture, when in reality there are more good days but I don't take those into account when I'm feeling bad... I just kind of spiral and nearly undo all of my hard work with stopping self-harming etc. Every day is a battle and I know everyone's battle is different. My only advice is try different things for you and don't belittle others' problems as although they may seem small to you, the other person may feel like their entire world is crashing down around them. This could also be due to many little things building up rather than one big thing.

Today was a classroom induction for work. I learnt a lot about how people with learning disabilities used to be treated and it honestly is terrible. They also used to be put in mental asylums at least until the 1980s which is terrible as we think that that wasn't so long ago. Even today people with learning disabilities aren't looked after as well as they should be. For example, we watched a case study about a 19 year old guy who drowned in the bath in an NHS assessment unit as he was unsupervised and had an epileptic seizure. The staff supporting him didn't listen to his parents when they told the staff that he had epilepsy. This subsequently lead to his death and so now they are campaigning to prevent needless deaths. This is something I feel very strongly about as I currently work with people who have learning disabilities and I've gotten fairly close with these people. This means that I feel empathy if they are treated in a way that I wouldn't like to be treated myself.
Hi there, I'm Beth and I'm a girl who is battling depression and anxiety. I'm thinking of using this blog to post memories as well as tips to help me (and maybe others) when I need it most. This means I will be able to read these back and think to memories, emotions and coping mechanisms. I am currently going through CBT and have had 7 sessions so far. My last one is next month and I'm scared of being alone and not having that safety net around me anymore. So you guys will be my new therapist and I'll unload on you all (sorry not sorry) that's if anyone actually reads this.
