hey! so for those of you who didn’t already know, i currently live in Japan, where same-sex marriage is not yet legal. tomorrow afternoon, the Japanese Diet is having a hearing concerning same-sex marriage, and they’re “gauging interest” based on the viewership of the livestream. basically, if people don’t watch, they’ll just write off the issue as niche and avoid it for as long as possible.

i’m posting about this here because, for ~some reason~, the hearing is to start at 1pm. on a regular thursday. when people are at work.

so, for those of you who will be awake at 1pm JST on thursday the 26th of november, i ask you to please contribute to the youtube live viewer count. i’ll put the link in a reblog.

What do you think were some flaws in homestuck’s world building?

This is a valid and interesting discussion question, but I'm afraid that there are few things less interesting to me than cutting Homestuck down to pieces.

I've noticed that a whole lot of former Homestuck fans have swung all the way around to hating it entirely, deciding that it always deserved hate, and expounding at length on what's hateable about it. I'm not one of those people! I prefer to talk about things I currently enjoy, not dwell on what makes me unhappy about things I used to enjoy.

And this is doubly true in the case of Homestuck, because any time I talk about mild qualms I had with any part of it, I immediately get multiple people sending asks, replies, and DMs to go oh yeah it got SO bad it's SO awful now it really is SO horrible, Let Me Tell You About Homestuck's Flaws.

I hope that those people can grouse with like-minded people to their heart's content. For my own part, it just feels like needless negativity and it exhausts me. So I don't engage in those discussions, and I try not to encourage them on my blog by sitting around and thinking up reasons to dislike a comic I haven't put any deep critical thought into for years.
