Raiding the Cora-san lives AU, reminds me of my headcanon that Rosi actually accidentally Time Capsuled himself using his Nagi Nagi, like while Doffy was walling away to escape having to watch his brother die, he's desperately holding on as long as he can, for Law, ignoring all distractions, the waves, the wind, the very loud heartbeat banging in his head- just- shut up, nagi nagi.
This wasn't a well thought out headcanon at the time, looking at my old drabbles, but it's something along the lines of Rosi having learned to use his devil fruit to primarily make silence bcs of his background and personality -a bit about him being selectively mute those first few years with Sengoku, only talking to ask if he was able to find his big brother-, so that's how he learned to use Nagi Nagi, to silence distracting things, sneak up on enemies, calm himself whenever he's nervous or having nightmares -and here's the hint.
Like Rosi said he used it to sleep but what marine -or any person with his trauma and past- would feel comfortable making himself deaf to everything around him so I never really took it as him meaning it that way. He uses it to calm himself, and later during Law's nightnares, also him (and while with Doffy, he'd only risked it once during a particularly bad episode of his brother's).
He doesn't really relaize the full potential for a long while.
So he basically time capsules himself to a decade into the future during which he's dying really, really slowly, actually.
Until something disturbs him, finding themselves on minion island, maybe that person's really loud, maybe they stumble on an unknowing grave.
And then a nine foot tall black feathered thing pops out of the ground with a squawk of 'Law' and trips on his feet.
It's really lucky the one who finds him has some rudimentary medical supplies.
I'm not sure if I made sense with this.
