Cory OāBrien (Writer): The halloween one, definitely. Half the fun was writing the events, half was writing the end credits music, and half was watching fan reactions in the discord. Thatās three halves, but thatās fine because the dread ZāGord defies mortal mathematics.Ā
Maggie Herskowitz (Writer): [SPOILER ALERT!!!!!] MIRANDA SLAUGHTERING THE WATER POLO TEAM!!! I was in Costa Rica volunteering at a wildlife rescue center when Monster Prom came out in 2018 and all of the volunteers would get together at night after work was finished and unwind with some sensible monster filth. I became really close friends with this very very sweet girl from Australia⦠who stumbled upon this route during a playthrough. I wrote the route, so the second the omelet thing happened, I knew exaaactly what was going on, and which choices she needed to make for what her stats were, so I guided her through it event by event and she was so happy things were going well with Miranda (and didnāt realize how interlinked the events were, which, of course, is the point of that route). The LOOK ON HER FACE when she realized she helped Miranda commit ALL THE MURDER was so genuinely shocked and betrayed and horrified and delighted and amused and HORRIFIED it was just. Absolutely perfect, the epitome of Monster Prom, 10/10 would prank Jana again.
Jesse Cox (Producer):Ā The orgy ending. Can I say that? Not cause itās about sex, itās about business. But also it screws literally everyone else out of a date.
Arthur Tien (Lead Artist): I donāt know most of them. I really enjoyed drawing the family pics though.
JuliĆ”n Quijano (Creative Director & Writer): So, fun fact: Iāve written all the endings (not the routes, like the text you get by the end if you unlock the secret ending)!Ā
I loved writing some of the Winter special ones. Scottās winter ending was super delightful to write, since it is PURE WHOLESOMENESS. I loved breaking both the gameās tone and the 4th wall to remind people to tell their loved ones how much they loved them.Ā
On the opposited side of the spectrum, another winter special ending: Mirandaās death. It was amazing to design and write at so many levels. The funeral art is beautiful, the writing on the epilogue is emotional and a bit too real on calling out Mirandaās severe flaws as a character, and when we decided to go with no music for the credits we were likeĀ āWOAH⦠we might have crossed a line here⦠WE NEED TO SEE HOW PEOPLE REACT TO THISā. Hilarious.Ā
Also, of course, the Prank Masterz ending is an instant classic. Our first opportunity on going an extra mile on endings, by creating an original song with dedicated art. It was hilarious. Shout out to Jesse Cox, who enlightened us with the idea of pairing the bleak visuals of the credits with a silly rap song. What a genius!
