Hello, dear! You've been visited by the random character question fairy! :D ~☆
What does your character most value in a friendship (loyalty, honesty, adventure, etc.)? Why do they value this? Which of your character's friends have this value?
Hello! Thank for the ask. I have a couple ocs to run through, so this might get long-
This is my first time talking my new ninjago ocs on this account, but there’s like a post about them on my art account @nerdwaifuu-art . For context, they’re all characters in a backstory comic I want to make for Ronin. Anyways, onto the characters.
I guess trust. He’s very friendly with many people, but trust between him and the other person is what really bonds him with them. Plus he’s surrounded by kind of untrustworthy people who also have major trust issues, so he knows something’s working if he trusts them and they trust him. This can be seen within his friend group of Emon, Luna, Aries, and Ronin. He trusts Emon like a father figure and gets trust back. Luna is very trusting of people (a little too trusting). Aries is just very trustworthy, so there’s always been a mutual trust between the two. Then with Ronin (ah, someone is not very trustworthy in canon), Vivian is one of the few people he trusts, so Vivian is happy whenever he displays that trust.
I guess she values freedom/independence in a friendship. When she was growing up, her family was very controlling of her future and wanted to mold her into the “perfect daughter.” Then her (ex)fiancé was super controlling of her to keep up a good image of himself. She gets this independence with Vivian, Ronin, and Emon. For once a supposed friend or loved one isn’t bossing her around, trying to make her match a certain image.
I guess communication. He started valuing it after too many instances of there being a lack of communication that led to horrible results (I mean, there’s going to be trouble if your best friend didn’t mention that he started working for a totally new gang and then you never mention to your good guy fiancé that you’re the criminal he’s been hunting down, except you were unaware that he was the one hunting you down in the first place-). The only person he knows who has consistently good communication is Vivian (although he’s a little too open sometimes).
Jiro/Rin/Nobu/Evil Dad (I haven’t picked a name, but my friends and I just call him Evil Dad):
Extreme loyalty. Having it led to his prosperity; losing it led to his downfall. Emon was the first to show this trait to him, and Evil Dad used this to his advantage and was able to increase in power with Emon’s help. He continued to use it to his advantage until Emon betrayed him in order to protect the one he loved (who just happened to be Evil Dad’s brother).
Hisashi (technically he doesn’t even show up in the comic unless there’s flashbacks because my boy is dead, but I still wanna talk about him):
I guess support and good listening. Similar to Luna, his family was very controlling, but he didn’t have the issue of having no freedom or independence as he got that from being a samurai/soldier, also he wasn’t really the type to make friends, so he didn’t feel trapped in any relationships. Instead, he just never had a say in what he wanted. It wasn’t until he met Emon that he had someone who wasn’t trying to push him onto a certain path and was willing to listen to and support what he wanted to do.
I have more characters, but these are most of the characters who are major characters and who actually have their friendships explored.
Also here’s a doc with the characters of the comic and descriptions if anyone is interested. I’m always up to talking about them-
