It’s summer again. I have a to-do activities list for this year. I really want to explore the nature in particular, especially camping and hiking. Since I was dragged to go camping in the outdoor the first time 2 weeks ago, I fall in love with it. I love the carefree feeling in the wilderness without any technology and other worres.

Another sunny day!
Every season has different charms and I love them all. In Spring, new life emerges from the harsh winter weather and birds chirping. In Summer, there is a lot of outdoor activities available and ice cream! In Fall, life slows down and tree leaves turn to amazing colors. In Winter, snow cover the ground and children play happily with friends and family.

Star Gazing
I am always curious about astronomy, even I dropped my astronomy class in college to avoid studying. I always dream of traveling through space to explore different planets. Looking up in the sky is just magical. You can feel how amazing the universe is, how great God is, and how small we are. T
We were trying to catch the Perseid Meteor shower. Without much luck, there were only around 15-20 meteors that we could see with our naked eye for the whole night. However, with surprises, we saw the Aurora. It was definitely amazing and unexpected. I mean, Aurora in Washington state? From my knowledge, aurora usually appear in the Northern countries like Norway and Iceland.
It was my first time to take pictures of the stars and I definitely don’t have the proper equipment for a perfect starry night picture! But, I think the pictures are still magical :)

Summer in the Pacific Northwest is the BEST. Sun and clear blue sky are what we have in summer everyday. Although it’s hot, it’s not humid. It’s the best time to be close with nature.

Nature
We, human, and nature are inseparable. Even though most of us live in a “cement forest”, we are still strongly connected with nature. It provides the most basic living necessaries for us, oxygen ,water, and food. We all live in symbiosis. Without them, there’s no us.
For the past few months, Seattle had an exhibition about Pompii. As a “sophisticated adult”, I had to go. Besides trying to be sophisticated, I am actually interested in the ancient world. Sometimes I wonder what was their daily life like. Did they eat and drink like us? Did they think like us? How did they live without all the fancy technologies? etc… This exhibition was able to show me something that I never imagined before.
The main theme of the exhibition is about Pompii people’s daily life, from house architecture and decor to personal life matters. Since the city was covered by thick layers of volcanic ash, most of the city and the objects were preserved well. A lot of detail carved furniture were shown in the exhibition. The art on each object is really detailed made and in a perfection manner. People nowadays can literally buy them in a furniture store. Also, the surgical tools and kitchen tools are really similar to ours.
From time to time, I would stumble on some crazy History Channel shows that talk about the ancient world and people. Some of them basically believe that we, 21st century human,are the most intelligent among history. But why? On what bases they can make the claim? Yes, we have all kinds of technologies to make all sort of machines, eg. rockets, computers, smart phones. The technologies certainly make our life easier and boarder our knowledge about the world, but do they make us smarter than our ancestors? I disagree. I believe our ancestors and us share the same level of intelligence. We are “smarter” because we have the knowledge that past down by our ancestors. In the exhibition, it is able to proof that our ancestors able to make the same products and tools we use in the modern time, but probably better because they didn’t have helps from machines (which we rely on in the modern time). They carved every furniture and tools with beautiful arts by hand. If we somehow lost all the technologies that we have, what can we do? Can we still have a normal life style?
At the end of the exhibition, it showed the last moment of Pompii - the last moment of Pompii people. For some reasons, my eyes got watery when I saw the human mold. All the them were helpless and tried to call out for help with their last breath. Nature is awesome, but sometimes too cruel.
Fresh Start
Okay. After 3 years, I decided to pick up blogging again, but it’s for different reason this time. I am not going to post food or daily life events, instead I will try to pick up photography (with my new nikon camera) and share my feelings through photographs.
I have been thinking of getting a hobbit for a period of time. The first time when I had my own camera was in Freshman year in College. I was too busy dealing with new college life and forgot my “passion”. Until I graduated and started working in the real world, I find out that everyone has a hobbit of some sort. People don’t spend most of time working like people do in Hong Kong. They have a balanced work life and personal life. Some has a passion of outdoor activities, some has an interest in culinary, and some just wants to explore. However, in America, it requires people to actively find stuffs to do. You have to be a really good google searcher or a outgoing person with tons of people connections. Unfortunately, I am neither of those.
Thanks to my lovely boyfriend. He has been listening to my complains of life over the past few years. He listens patiently and gives me advises for my spare time whenever I talk about my boring life. Also, he keeps encouraging me to explore new subjects.
Now, here I am. The fresh start for my blog!

It was my boyfriend's birthday a few weeks ago. I decided to take him out to a restaurant in Seattle, called the Art on the Table. This restaurant is located at a corner of a neighborhood. It does not have fancy entrance, but a cozy and warm feeling inside of the restaurant with an open kitchen. Why we go to this restaurant? Is there something special? Of course it is! It was Wei's birthday. =D The other reason is because it offers fresh and local ingredients. The menu changes daily because its all dependent on the chief's inspiration and seasonal ingredients.
We had their tasting menu + pair wine. So that, we didn't miss out all of their delicious food. Tasting menu had 9 courses with 3 appetizers, 3 main courses and 3 desserts.
Soup with coconut oil + flower
Asparagus + egg + pickle onions with lots of yummy spices.
Duck breast + grain oat "bean"
Restaurant homemade crackers + cheese + pistachio. I hate diary product, especially cheese and milk. Surprisingly, I love the cheese and finished everything on my plate XD
I can't post all 9 course we had, but I am sure you get the idea of the restaurant we went to. Delicious, delicious, and delicious!!
Anyway, I still need to say "Happy Birthday Wei. You are getting old!!" XD
February in Hong Kong
Since February, Hong Kong weather has been really humid and cloudy. I was planning to go to all sort of cool places when my boyfriend stays in Hong Kong; however, due to the weather, we could not always enjoy and play outside. The only upside of this kind of weather is that it is warm here, just like last Seattle summer.
由2月開始, 香港的天氣變得潮濕和多雲. 本來男朋友遊覽香港時想帶他去不同有趣的景點, 可惜天公不做美, 我們不能享受外面的環境和到處遊玩.
As always, I went to Wonderful Fast Food Restaurant for lunch. I had stir fried flat noodle with slice meat and veggies. The sauce really goes well with the noodle since the noodle does not taste like anything.
一如既往, 我去了奇樂快餐店吃午餐. 這一次是菜遠肉片河. 因為河粉本身沒有任何味道, 所以它的汁令這道菜更好.
Belated Valentine's Day in HK
Valentine's Day is a big day for all the couples every year. It is a "holiday" to remind people to show love to their partners. Hong Kong people are busy all the time, they still try to spend as much time as they can with each other and show their love to their partner in this particular date, such as getting flowers and chocolate for the girl and have a romantic dinner. For me, it is not necessary to receive special gifts on Valentine's Day, although it is still really awesome to receive flowers and chocolate. =) It is because I think that everyday can be Valentine's Day when love is in the heart.
每年的情人節是一個對情人很重要的日子. 這是一個節日去提醒人們去表達他們對情人的愛. 香港人每時每刻都很忙碌, 但在這特別的日子, 他們會盡量抽多些時間跟愛人一起和表達愛意, 例如送花和朱古力, 還有一頓浪漫的晚餐.
雖然收花和朱古力是很開心, 但我不需要特別的禮物. 因為如果愛在心中,每日都是情人節.
This year, I spent my Valentine's Day with my boyfriend and my parents up on The Peak. It was not romantic at all and the HK humid weather created a lot of "low clouds" in the city. Seemed like we were angels and walking on the clouds when we tried to look for the night view of HK. Even though everything was not perfect for this special day, but it was still warm and fun.
今年的情人節, 我和男朋友和我的父母一起去香港山頂. 這一天完全不浪漫. 香港的天氣十分潮濕以至製造低雲層. 我們就像天使一樣在雲上漫步, 可是就不能看到香港的夜景. 雖然所有東西都好像不完美, 但感覺上都是很溫暖和很有趣
This is the chocolate ice, HKD $38 (USD $4.88). Its chocolate was not strong at all, but yet, it still tasted like chocolate and really refreshing.
這是朱古力綿綿冰, 港幣 $38 (美金 $4.88). 它的朱古力不是太濃, 但仍舊有很濃郁的朱古力味, 而且口感清新
Chocolate pudding was their special on Valentine's Day, ~HKD$35, (~USD$4.50). The outside part was crunchy and it went well with the warm melted chocolate inside and the ice-cream.
心太軟是該店的特別推介, ~港幣$35, (~美金$4.50). 蛋糕外面脆脆的, 再加上旁邊的雪糕和入面溫暖+少訐溶的朱古力, 實在是正!
Foooooooooooooood!!
HK has a description as a Food Heaven. Eating in HK is really exciting. One of the reasons is because there is a big variety of food selection that you can choose from, such as Chinese food, Japanese food, Thai food, European food, and American food. Also, the cost of eating in HK is relative cheaper compare to the United States. 香港有美食天堂之稱. 在香港吃東西有種令人興奮的感覺. 最大的原因就是因為這裡有很多不同國家的食物, 例如有中國菜, 日本菜, 泰國菜, 歐洲菜, 美國菜等等. 另一原因便是在香港食用的花費比在美國的便宜很多.
Anyway, Let's me introduce some of the food from HK. 接下來便讓我介紹香港食物.
This is one of my breakfast at a HK local restaurant in Shatin, Wonderful Fast Food Restaurant. This restaurant offers different kind of food in a fusion of western and chinese style throughout the whole day. 這是我在香港沙田當地一間餐廳吃的一份早餐, 名叫奇樂快餐店. 這間餐廳全天提供中西餐融合的菜式.
The picture above is showing a breakfast set of Beef noodle soup with Satay sauce, along with Egg, Sausage and butter bread. Since it is winter, a cup of hot Honey Lemon water is my favorite drink for this weather, which does not have any extra charge. I only paid HKD$22 (USD$2.83) for the whole breakfast. 上面的圖片是一個早餐套餐 - 沙嗲牛肉麵 + 腸蛋 + 牛油麵包. 在冬天, 當然還要加上一杯的熱熱的蜜糖檸檬水. 這裡總共是港幣$22, 美金$2.83, 飲品並不用另外加錢.
Yesterday (the 15th day of the first month of the Chinese Lunar calendar) was Chinese Lantern Festival, aka the Chinese Valentine's Day. Tranditionarlly, there will be lantern hanging around for people to solve the word riddles on the lanterns in the festival. Also, eating Glutinous Rice Ball is another trandition. It symbolizes that the family will be together and can bring luck to the family for the following year. 昨天是元宵節(農曆十五), 並且是中國情人節. 傳統上, 人們會掛燈籠, 猜燈謎和吃湯圓. 湯圓可以象徵一家團圓的意思和送給各人祝福.
My mom cooked some red-bean paste glutinous rice balls for everyone in the family. It was a great time to share the moment with family and able to send luck to each other! 我媽媽為家中各人煮了紅豆湯圓. 這是一個很好的家庭相聚時刻和向家人寄予最大的祝福.

Hi Everyone! Welcome to BB Mushroom Post #2. 大家好! 歡迎到 BB Mushroom.
It has been a totally different life style for me compare to 2 months ago. I went back to Hong Kong (my hometown) in the beginning of January. The trip was not expected until November 2011 because I accidentally discovered that I could graduate from college a quarter earlier. Therefore, I decided to go back home and spent Chinese New Year with my family (since I had not been able to do that in the past 8 years!). 我現在的生活模式跟兩個月前是完全不一樣的. 兩個月前的我還在美國大學努力奮鬥中. 但是在去年11月的時候, 我臨時決定返回香港跟家人過農曆新年. 主要原因是因為已經完成所有學分, 可以提早畢業. 而且過去8年沒有機會在美國過真正的農曆新年.
Hong Kong is a really pretty place. Although it has polluted air and has a government that does not listen to its own people, instead, just tries to please the Chinese government, I still love this place. Its people, its food, its culture are something that cannot be compared with other countries that I visited before. 香港是一個美麗的城市. 雖然在這城市有很多空氣污染和一個不會聆聽市民心聲的政府, 但我還是很喜歡這個地方. 它的人民, 它的食物, 它的文化令這個地方令人覺得它有獨特的一面.
I took this picture in Taiwan airport when I transferred flight. I guess Hello Kitty is really popular over there! 這張照片是我在台灣轉飛機時拍的. Hello Kitty在那裡都是這麼受歡迎!!
A little taste of Hong Kong from now. 一點香港的體驗.
It was taken in 2009 (last time I came back). This is a night/light view of Hong Kong from the Peak. Even though it is really touristy, I still like going there to look at the city in a different angle and be able to go on a cable car. =) If you have time when you are in HK, I do also recommend to go there during daytime for a walk around the mountain. It will be a good relaxing moment for "shopping-tired" tourists to get closer to the nature. 這張夜景照片是在2009年時在香港山頂所拍的. 雖然這是個遊客景點, 但我還是很喜歡這個地方. 因為可以從不同的角度來欣賞這個城市, 而且還可以坐纜車呢. 如果你在香港遊玩時有一些空閒時間, 你可以在白天的時候去玩. 那裡有一條山俓供遊客和行山者環繞山頂一周, 又可以令遊客從瘋狂購物的疲憊身軀放鬆和感受一下大自然.
