It's been a rough month for reading here in July, so many other important things happening, but it's so cool to get back to the classics.
June 2024 reads.
It seemed like a slower month, only 5 books, but Pillars is like 1,000 pages. Kept me busy.
Matilda might be my favorite kids book ever.
Pillars of the Earth might be the best book I've ever read.
A new member of the family.
My May 2024 reads!
What an awesome month of books, I think one of my most consistently great reading months ever.
A Gathering of Shadows by VE Schwab ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A Conjuring of Light by VE Schwab

Where the Crawdad Sings by Delia Owens

What a great month!!
OH MY GOD!!!!
This trilogy was sooo sooo good! Every new book topped the one before. Ms @veschwab , you have an amazing skill at creating worlds and characters to love.
Everything I've read of hers is bonkers good, and I'm super stoked to move on to The Fragile Threads of Power very soon.
I absolutely love this book. I am loving this series. Each book gets bigger and better, so I'll be starting the next one immediately.
I love how Lila has taken to magic so easily. Clearly, she has some things to learn, but being from a non magic world, she's adapted so well.
I enjoy Kell and I'm really worried about him now, but I hope he is able to teach Lila what she needs to know.
There are a number of new characters in this book, but my favorite is going to be Alucard. I hope he plays an even bigger part in book three.
Once again, Ms Schwab is killing it!
Super excited to get my first physical copy from the Inn!

Man, I love this series. Everytime she solves a case a new one takes its place.
I really enjoyed the new location, and with it, the new people, along with plenty of old ones too.
And who hasn't wanted more Merv?
I've really enjoyed the last 18 months or so getting out l, finding new authors and friends. I can't ever be anything but grateful for everyone who has showed off some amazing authors who truly made my life better..
That said, I'm digging into an older book I read 15 years ago. I love everything Robert Ludlum did. What's your favorite?
So, I finally got a chance to take out my old, beat up shelves from 15 years ago with beautiful wall mounted options. This is a week in the making here. A lot of back pain, but absolutely worth it!
⭐⭐⭐⭐ 3/4
I gotta say, only my second VE Schwab book, and I have loved them both. Very interested in where this is going.
The concept of multiple worlds has been done so many times, but I loved the anchor that London provides, especially the one perticular building.
Characters are well thought out, bad guys are awfully bad and I love it!!!

⭐⭐⭐3/4
This is my first real kind of romance first book, and for what it is, it did the job. I was entertained.
I got through the second half of the book in a few hours today, and I was pretty entertained.
Even more so than the main story is the vivid, very well described locations. I have always wanted to go to Scotland, and this book, with its beautiful landscapes makes me want to go there even more.
I know the ending is predictable, but I don't think these books are trying to befuddle you. They're here to entertain and this does that very well.
So excited. I have a couple books to finish, then I'm onto this gorgeous looking series
If this wasn't a book club book, I would not have gotten past part 2. It drags on and I found myself asking "what's the point of this book?" so many times.
Even when I got the purpose, sure, it got better, and fairly interesting, but it definately isn't something I would choose to read again.
I definately liked Sea of Monsters more than Lightning Thief, and it has a great, if not expected, ending.
I like reading these books and I have actually learned so much of what I know about Greek Mythology from this series when I was younger. Sure beat a school book.
Percy, Anabeth, Grover and now Tyson have me hooked. I really want to know what's going to happen. It's been 15 years since I read the whole series, so I don't recall the ending of the series.
The characters are surprisingly deep for being a shorter book and being 13. What was I doing at 13? Not wrestling with the weight of the world, that's for damn sure. Way to go to the team from Camp Half-Blood
