i think a fun part of the re-recording process is that yeah to a normal person the songs are going to sound the same but the people who are deeply connected to the music will notice the differences! like we know taylor’s fake country accent, the shaky breath in last kiss, how pitchy she used to be. we can tell when the instrumentals are just slightly different so it DOES feel new

its so smart of taylor to name all the rerecordings “taylor’s version” cause if shamrock or anyone decides to put out remasters or something of her old stuff, no one is gonna confuse it and buy their stuff instead of taylor’s and it eliminates the need of knowing the difference between all the terms, which only the fans knew and not the general public, and makes it easier! also, it feels so personalized and special

this is a huge nostalgia win for long term fans but it’s also a huge win for fans who feel like they joined the fandom too late and missed everything. now they kinda get their redo. everyone wins

The thing that gets me is, Taylor doesn’t have to do all of this. The whole reason she has to re-record her old albums in the first place is because of Sc*tt and Sc**ter. Everyone would understand if she just recorded them and released them with no fanfare because the circumstances surrounding them are terrible. She could just get it out of the way and be done with it. But instead she is making the biggest deal out of it, and she’s doing it for us. She’s not only releasing the new versions, but she’s going above and beyond with adding on the new songs, bringing back secret messages, putting out new merch, having a big, anticipated release. She’s doing all of that for us, and she doesn’t have to, but she still is. She is making sure this is the best possible experience for us even though it was born out of the worst possible experience for her, and I love her for it.
