Explain your current situation to your five-years-ago self.
Wow if I’m really looking at you right now it is November 20th,2011 and you’re probably really excited about going to Florida with Emily and her family for thanksgiving this week. Hmm last I remember you were really grinding out your last bit of work on that nutrition project you have due (thank god you’re a nerd this semester and started early). Drake just dropped Take Care about five days ago and you’re definitely keeping that shit on repeat, but there will be times where you wish you didn’t listen to that album at all and there will be times where you wish you couldn’t relate so perfectly to that album because you’ve been going through some shit but it’s all low key but still…anyways that album is amazing the shit gets a Grammy man. Living with Zach,Ryan and Kenny is amazing and yeah there will be some times where things get rough but you guys always solve things and that year is going to be the best year of your life.
That’s all great and everything and yes you end up finishing the year with that 3.4 you needed to transfer (GO YOU IM SO PROUD OF YOU AND IM TELLING YOU THIS BECAUSE I KNOW NOT A DAMN SOUL TOLD YOU THAT AT THE TIME AND YOU NEEDED IT IM SO FUCKING PROUD OF YOU). So summer will roll around and yes you’ll be back at that boring pool job, but you’re gonna mix things up and work at Chick-fil-A too for extra money for you and Emily to go on dates and all that. You’re gonna get that letter of acceptance and the both of you are gonna be so happy about being able to finally be together for the school year. I hate to do this but fast forward a couple months and things are dark man I mean really dark. You’ll be in a new city at a new school not knowing a single soul so yup you’ll be all on your own and if you haven’t figured it out by now..you and Emily have broken up. I really hate telling you this, but you’re gonna slip into a depression and no I’m not talking about your average post break up depression I mean you are really fucked up here you’re gonna drink more than ever and you’re gonna end up walking places a lot to try and clear your mind and you’re gonna spend so many countless nights on the soccer field just kicking the ball at the wall trying to figure out why you’re such an idiot. I know that sucks to hear considering everything you’ve been through it happens man , but there’s always a silver lining and that silver lining is that you end up finding yourself and I mean you really figure out who you are and what you want to do with life you’ll fall in love with Washington DC and you’re gonna end up falling in love with the Capitals (your bank account suffers but you really love the team right now so it’s okay). You’re gonna live on U street because music is a huge part of your life right now and one weekend Ryan is gonna be in town and you guys go see The Gaslight Anthem at the 930 club even though you have no idea how to use the metro still you guys end up making it and it’s a sick ass time (except the part where you and ryan get in trouble for washing the X's off your hands in the bathroom).
You end up meeting so so many great people and through time you don’t even notice but you’ve been molded into this completely new you and you like it..A LOT.
Before you know it things are better and they’re gonna keep getting better man because summer 15’ is gonna come (you end up calling this the Summer of Success) and you’re going to go to Vegas and you’re gonna use that as a big FUCK YOU to all the bad times it’s great you’re gonna throw a crazy party as well so crazy that you’ll almost end up crashing Phils Lexus in your yard! You’re gonna go to school at home this year and this is gonna be a time where you really connect with your city and Joe is home too so that’s awesome
Side note: Joe becomes the best friend you never knew you had and to this day he knows more about you than any of your other friends. Joe is the only one who knows how you deal with the pressure.
You end up finishing the year on the Deans list (I’m so proud of you for this too you didn’t need it as bad as the first time but I’m still gonna tell you) and then summer is right back where you left off except this time you’re going to Hawaii and that entire trip is pure Nirvana you even witness the Golden State Warriors win the NBA title then you’ll go to New Orleans and that’s awesome too.
I wanna tell you that things back home get better too because in the blink of an eye you’ll be sitting right next to the dugout at the Tides games seeing yourself on the big screen a couple times and this happens for the rest of the summer and hell you’re there so much the mascot starts to dap you up and mess with you all the time and that all happened because you smiled at the right person and that person is going to turn your life around. You’re gonna get hooked up with VIP tickets to every concert at the amphitheater and even the Norva too and hell if that didn’t sound incredible you get the same deal with the Admirals too and yes you become best friends with those mascots too and even some of the players. Life is spinning really fast for a bit with all this going on but you’ll be okay just be careful of those fake friends popping up out of nowhere now trying to get a handout and be your best friend all of a sudden; Your loyalty to your boys has always been at a sky high so this isn’t anything difficult to deal with.
Winter rolls around and besides admirals games out the ass you find out Bassnectar is going to be in town in December and you go both nights and that shit is amazing I mean AMAZING MAN. In the meantime you’ll end up liking a girl and things don’t work out but it’s okay it happens. You won’t get a New Years kiss either and you won’t have a Valentine on Valentine’s Day this year as usual and it sucks because you really wanted to share that day with someone special since it’s been so long, but you’ll push through and realize you need to focus on what’s important.
Fast forward to the end of the semester and you get Deans List again and you figure out that you actually like studying law like you want to be a lawyer dude and you love it.
I know I’ve been keeping you around for a while but this is the last part of your story and it ends with Summer 16’ aka the “Summer of Revenge” (I think you end up calling it this because those people that did you wrong in the past try and come back and use you because they see all the fun you’re having and also because you decide this is the summer you are going to ball the fuck out because you’ve been working too hard). You’ll end up going on a road trip to New Orleans with the boys for five days and those are the wildest/most fun days ever (spoiler alert: you kill a bottle of Stoli blueberry to yourself and you’ll earn the nickname “danger” don’t ask you’ll see). You’ll work two jobs which really sucks at first but things start to adapt and you find time to even make it to that trip to Orlando with the family so everything is cool. Like I said before, you’ll be at the Tides games and a majority of the concerts you’ll be at too just like last summer but this summer is different. YOU’RE GOING TO SEE BLINK 182 FOR THE FIRST TIME AND YOU END UP GETTING VIP TICKETS AND YOU END UP TAKING WHO YOU REALLY WANTED TO TAKE AND ITS GOING TO BE ONE OF BEST NIGHTS OF YOUR LIFE MAN IM NOT FUCKING WITH YOU THIS HAPPENS. Before the summer is over you’ll end up shattering your toe at work and that really really really sucks because you won’t be able to walk for a while but you get through it and right on time for Bruce Springsteen. Yeah man you’ll see him again for the second time and this time around it’s better because during the concert you’re gonna reminisce on all the good times and the bad times and you’ll realize that despite all that’s happened life is good man life is really good and you’ve become so strong over time and it’s really all amazing and I know you know what I mean because you remember it all….
That was supposed to be the last part, but I want so badly to tell you how things are now….all I can say is that things are really good and things are clear for the first time in while and you’re really really happy. I forgot to mention that you’re gonna end up getting that Siberian Husky you always wanted as a kid she’s a red husky with bright blue eyes and you’re gonna name her Athena just like you always wanted to when you were young and she is going to bring you nothing but happiness man she’s even so cool that she was born onNew Year’s Day. I know I should’ve mentioned her earlier but I wanted to save the best part for last and I wanted to make sure you know that everything is falling into place and your dreams are finally coming true kid so enjoy the good times and brace yourself for the bad just know that when those bad times come they won’t last forever and the good times that make up for them will really make up for them.
