It's definitely more 76 heavy with the rolled up shirtsleeves.
It starts in the fall.
Vi knows because that's when the tanks she's been wearing go missing and a stack of longer sleeved shirts appear in their place. The grief still weighs on her like a set of chains. If there are two things Vi knows, it's how to bear that weight and how to wear a uniform. So she tugs the shirts on and mumbles something that sounds like thanks when Caitlyn watches her for a little too long. A few pairs of non-ripped pants join them on the shelf. Everything is heavy, well-made and Vi can't bring herself to care about any of it. At the very least, no-one touches the belt. When it gets too tight around her hips, the pants just come in a different size that fits better.
It's spring before it feels like she can breathe again.
Then it's summer.
Before Vi knows it another year has passed. She used to mark the days by dragging a tic in the wall when she had the strength or means. Now she can see the sun. Now there's calendars and seasons and the rhythm of the days has more variety than she ever could have thought. Time stretches ahead in weeks and months not hours. The air starts to turn cool and the heavier shirts appear in the closet again. New ones, now that her shoulders have filled out more. This year though there's something else in there as well. Vi pulls it out and turns the hanger. She knows that it will fit she's just not sure why it's in there. But she knows how to find out so she pads from the closet down to the library, hanger still in her hand.
"Hey Cait, what's this--" Vi stops mid-sentence, "is that my shirt?"
Caitlyn freezes mid key-stroke, her posture immediately changing like she's been caught doing something wrong. It's definitely her shirt, Vi recognizes it as one she lived in all winter. The clothes get swapped out like so many things in the house. She hasn't thought about what happens to the clothes that don't fit her anymore. It's such a strange and wonderful thing to not have to think about every scrap of cloth being reused or mended. At the same time embarrassment burns through her at the thought of how different she used to be. How much those scraps needed to be mended or reused because she couldn't just get new stuff all the time. Most of her clothes went to her sister.
So maybe one thing hasn't changed after all.
Caitlyn has the sleeves rolled up. When she turns, Vi can see how roomy it is on her, even if it only just reaches past her waist. Vi remembers spending most of the winter curled up, the sweater feeling like a cocoon until it became snug and the weather became warm. On Caitlyn it looks--better than Vi remembers it looking on her. But that's how clothes look on Caitlyn always. It would be funny if distaste didn't cross her face every time the need for a new outfit presented itself. The closet where their clothes live is comically full of options, but they don't bother with them. Caitlyn has a set group of outfits that feel like uniforms to Vi and she just rotates through them. There's no variety.
Which means--
"Do you have all of them?"
"No!" Caitlyn says, far too quickly to be believable. Her gaze darts across Vi's face before Vi sees her fidget with one of the rolled sleeves, "it didn't fit you anymore," she says. Vi opens her mouth but Caitlyn continues in a rush, "you can have it back--"
"Don't tempt me," Vi says as she reaches towards the hem.
Her fingers pause at it as she looks at Vi like she's trying to read a book. A book that's not easy to read. However Vi meant for it to come across, it hasn't landed right. Caitlyn's gaze darts to the hanger and even if it makes her a coward, Vi goes for the lifeline it offers. She holds it up to ask something but apparently she's not the only one who's struggling to read another person. Caitlyn's face goes impressively blank at the sight of it, her shoulders squaring like she's getting ready for a fight.
"What's this for?" Vi asks.
"Parties."
"We're going to parties?"
Caitlyn frowns and Vi can see her parsing out the question. She knows Caitlyn went to a bunch of them last year. She had to. Vi would wake up with an empty spot in the bed and shuffle downstairs, usually to find Caitlyn sitting with a cup of tea and a far off expression of misery that she tried to hide. They would sit there until Caitlyn would nod and they would make their way up to bed. On one of the last nights Vi remembers offering to go with her but Caitlyn had shook her head and said the season was over. It was hard to say who felt more relieved. Vi had shoved it out of her mind until now. When she looks at Caitlyn in her sweater though, Vi finds herself nodding anyway.
"Yeah, right, parties," she says, feeling the plush fabric.
All the clothes are nice, but this is the kind of fabric that she's never worn before. It feels almost too nice, even though the heavy drapes around their bed are made of the same thing. Vi knows she hasn't fully wrapped her head around how rich Caitlyn actually is. But when she glances up at Caitlyn still in her sweater, with the brace around her knee and the patch over her eye, she's not sure if Caitlyn has fully wrapped her head around it either. If it's the kind of thing you're supposed to wrap your head around at all. But Caitlyn has that look on her face again and Vi can't bear her confusion. Not when she's responsible for it.
"I don't think I've ever worn something this nice," she admits.
"You could try it on?" Caitlyn offers.
Vi nods and shucks her clothes, pulling on the suit. The deep blue velvet glides on like it was meant for her. They largely make her clothes with buckles and clasps like they do in Zaun, though the shimmer Caitlyn poured down her throat the night they met eased the aches and stiffness in her fingers. She fastens the vest and looks at Caitlyn. Caitlyn's expression is desperately stoic and failing as she looks at Vi. For the first time in a long time, Vi feels heat pool in her belly as she returns the look.
"It's nice," Vi says.
Caitlyn bobs her head once in agreement before she stands up and walks over. Her fingers skim down the lapel, decidedly not where Vi wants them to be. But before she can protest, Caitlyn tilts her head as though considering something. Then without a word she reaches down and pulls off the stolen sweater and all the moisture dries from Vi's mouth as she realizes the sweater was the only thing Caitlyn was wearing.

Kara, not one to concede defeat, just laughs breathlessly and pins Lena to the lab counter.
As abruptly as it began, their fight ends with their hips flush and their faces inches apart, winded and suddenly still.
There’s a throb deep inside Lena, in the pocket of her hipbones, a deep pull that threads up to her chest and makes her breathing short. Kara smells so good, and her eyes are zeroed in on Lena’s lips, and this feels suddenly inevitable – the crackling tension that’s existed between them for years reaching its capacity, and slowly, inexorably spilling over.
Did I do something?" Kara asked as she leaned back against one of the porch beams looking out at the yard, as it was about to snow again. She could hear the icicles starting to form on the porch roof. She always loved their clear beauty, it reminded her of Krypton. Lena turned around, "Is that a statement or a question?" Kara moved her eyes to look at her, "A genuine question." Lena crossed her arms, "Do you really want to know?”

Lena spends the holidays with Kelly and her new in-laws. She is not pleased Kara is there because their last encounter was a disaster. Will the magic of the holidays cause them to see one another in a new light?
