“I wouldn’t go far to say is an overrated holiday, but there are people who can be a little too over the top with it. Most of the Christmas songs are so bad by this point since they keep putting them on a loop wherever you go. Artists come up with a million different songs about love and break ups but not Christmas? Like come on! A different tune would be nice.”

“There’s no new songs! And Christmas decorations are all up so early, so we can’t enjoy any other holiday without a giant, air balloon Santa blowing in the wind at us. Also, if you’re not really a big fan of Christmas, you’re automatically a terrible person.”

Beatrice had been cooped up for too long. She sat in her apartment for many hours, curled up in her same writing chair, typing away at a computer for hours. Of course, it was getting her nowhere. The young woman was typing nothing but nonsense in her mind. Her agent had been down her throat for the sequel of her book, but as hard as she tried, she couldn’t quite get it to come out right. So, she decided she needed some air, some good caffeine, and some social interaction (even if as far as that interaction went was a simple hello for strangers). She walks down the street with purpose, headed for the coffee shop right down the road, headphones blaring an instrumental tune.

“Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas and all but there’s a point where the music is just too much and I can’t stand it anymore. Like, is it really necesarry to play the same song on every radio station at the same time? A guy is just trying to listen to something other than ‘Jingle Bells’, I’ll even listen to some hardcore gothic music to change things up.”

      𝗑.       the  main  square  was  henry’s  favorite  place  to  go  on  his  nights  off  –  it  was   always  bustling  with  people,  smiling  and  laughing  with  family  or  with  friends.  more  often  than  not  he  came  alone,  if  only  to  observe  &  enjoy  a  moment  of  peace.  the  food  trucks were,  of  course,  a  bonus.  “  let me tell you something,  ”  he  said,  and  glanced  to  the  person  beside  him.  “  don’t  listen  to  what  anyone  else  tells  you.  the  best  hispanic  food  you  will  eat  outside  of  abuela’s  is  from  a  food  truck.  that’s  simply  a  fact.  ”   he  leaned  forward  for  the  tacos  being  held  out  for  him,  and  dropped  a handful  of  change  and  singles  into  the  tip  jar  on  the  way.

Beatrice had been sitting in the main square on a bench for a few hours, simply people watching. She’s not so great with interactions, so one of her favorite things to do is watch other people get to enjoy them. She was actually sitting in this very spot when she had the idea for her first book. She decided to grab some food from the truck right across the way, and heard the man speak to her right after she walked up. Beatrice chuckled slightly at what the man said, nodding. “I don’t know much about hispanic cuisine, but I do know I like food trucks.”
