“i can respect that. funny, though, i usually go for a more bitter tasting wine. it’s been awhile since i’ve had a sweet wine so i’ll try one out and see if maybe my tastes have changed.”
“Oh I could give you some good bitter wines. THey’re just not usually what I drink when I’m at home, you know?”

Amelie laughs. “Hush you’re fine.” She does as she’s told. Of course she cooked with fresh ingredients at work, but she didn’t always do that at home. “I use that at home too.”
Beatrice relaxed a little bit when she said she didn’t always cook like a professional. “That makes me feel a little better,” she said as she set the pasta to boil and the sauce to simmer. “Should be good in about fifteen minutes.”

“Hush, I’m going to love it.”
“Grab a can of tomato puree from the fridge? I know, I know, cringe because of cans but at least I’m not doing jarred sauce.”

“fair enough. do you happen to have a favorite wine? i might try it if you do — so long as it won’t cost more than my rent.”
“Oh I always keep budget in mind, of course. I’m never out to steal people’s money, just give them a pleasant wine experience. I’ve got a killer sweet tooth, so a pink moscato of any kind is my go-to if I’m just sipping.”

“Stop it’s going to be amazing.”
“You can’t judge me if it’s like, mediocre,” she laughed as she started on the sauce.

Jasmine had just closed the shop when she noticing someone “or sorry, we just closed, but I can take your name or something and give you a call tomorrow?”
“Ah, darn. I knew I should have left work sooner. Sure, Beatrice Kaplan. It’s just a silly brake problem, I’m sure it’ll get sorted in no time tomorrow.”

“oh, yeah? perfect. i’ll have to stop by one day in that case. your judgment seems trustworthy enough, especially if you’re calling yourself the local wine snob.”
“I didn’t go to culinary school for nothing,” she laughed. “I have a degree in knowing too much about wine.”

“oh, just you wait. you’ll have some spoiled brat of a kid try to pull a fast one on you soon enough, they’d just rather look at a pair of tits first,” he teased, a grin on his lips. “but exquis, yeah? fancy place, been considering checking it out. i need to treat myself in ways that aren’t splurging on a new taxidermy piece or buying seven dollar wine.”
“Kids,” she chuckled, shaking her head. “It’s a lovely place. And as the sommelier, I can recommend the best wine to pair with everything on the menu, so never be afraid to ask your local wine snob a question.”

anton wouldn’t fault those underage for trying, not so fondly remembering his days of desperately wanting to get almost blackout drunk and watch pretty women dance around on stage half naked. that being said, he wasn’t allowed to give others that pleasure, not without the potential of losing his job. “it’s like, despite our age, they think we were born yesterday. it’s sad, really, how they’ll use every phrase and trick on you until they just give up. and by sad, i mean a complete fucking waste of time.”
“God, I can only imagine,” she chuckled. She’d never been like that. Part of her wishes she had. She’d been to focused on her studies to have any sort of fun when she was younger. She was trying to make up for that a little now. “I’m lucky, the kids who want to get drunk can’t afford to do so at Exquis,” she chuckled.

Amelie laughs. “The head chef becomes sous-chef.”
“This is definitely not where I shine,” Beatrice laughed. “Now I feel embarrassed, cooking in front of someone who does so for a living.”

She grins. “I’m helping you cook.”
“Oh are you?” she chuckled. “Why don’t you chop the red and green peppers, then?”

“Oh God please. Sounds perfect.”
“Coming right up,” she said as she gathered her ingredients and started to cook. “Make yourself at home, by the way.”

“I try to count calories, so like nothing fried.”
“I can oblige to that,” she said with a smile. “Does pasta bolognese sound alright? I’m dying for it with a good red.”

“I made dinner for Ash but she pissed me off so bad that I turned it off and left. So I’m starving. I’d love food and wine.”
“Can do,” she said, walking into the kitchen and started rummaging through the cabinets. “Do you have any like, dietary restrictions?”

Amelie smiles. “It would have sucked to be alone tonight.”
“Well you don’t have to be. Do you want something to eat? Or like, tea or something? Or wine? You know I have the best wine.”

Amelie strips down to her lingerie and gets dressed. She thought nothing of changing in front of the lady. “Thank you so much Bea.”
Beatrice didn’t mind when Amelie changed in front of her. She shrugged. “It’s the least I can do. I wasn’t about to leave you sobbing alone out there.”

“Please? I’m just buying new ones. I want no attachment to her. She bought most of my clothes and they weren’t my style to be honest.”
“Yeah, of course,” she said, heading into the bedroom and opening up her dresser, pulling out a comfortable shirt and leggings for her. “Here, these should fit fine.”
