Been trying to get better at improvising with piano playing lately but it's really difficult for me to make harmony progressions on the spot. I know the 2-5-1 or whatever but i just dont GET how to know what extended chords to use (since otherwise it sounds just boring after a while) on the spot especially since i always have to THINK about the correct notes...

Anyway been getting recommended yt videos by Open Studio and one of the teachers (sullivan fortner, fucking amazing guy) said basically to focus on one note in the chord (sopran, alt, tenor, bass) and sing its melody how you want. The chord extensions kinda just happen then.
