When your body starts growing a cage
While you're absolutely right about cglre and littlespace taking their terms from ageplayers and the gear as well, my only point of contention is that age regression medically DOES exist in children! It's very common to regress when experiencing big changes—I used a pacifier for a bit when a younger sibling was born (aaand messed up my new teeth, hence the bunny teeth/slight overbite), they even had a Rugrats episode about this in the 90's where Angelica regressed and wore a diaper and acted like a baby because she felt insecure!
In adults, regression is an immature defense mechanism and usually related to trauma or other mental illness, but it is real!
But yeeeah, posting it online wasn't done, the internet was in its infancy and social media didn't exist yet. Trauma victims weren't getting their gands on essentially fetish gear and sharing it online. ;_;
i understand where you’re coming from, but i have acknowledged plenty of times that age regression is indeed an actual phenomenon. although most of my posts are talking about voluntary regression so i see where the confusion is. unfortunately the agere community has misrepresented it so severely and has trivialized actual clinical age regression to the point where almost no one knows what they’re talking about anymore. so here’s my stance on that.
clinical, involuntary age regression is very real. it’s most often observed in extreme trauma survivors, dementia patients, and children with neurodevelopmental disorders (particularly autism + intellectual disability). this kind of age regression is entirely symptomatic, disruptive to everyday life and functioning, and has no business being paraded on the internet under the guise of aesthetic lifestyle blogs.
anyways, none of this is at you directly, i just cant help myself from ranting a bit because this gets me worked up. im also gonna probably go off topic a little bit.

can tumblr plzzz add a way to block posts from “communities” showing up on your feed 💔 its like amino 2.0 i dont want this
Just want to say, good post. The whole sfw agere community on this site is absurd. They’re doing kink stuff, they absolutely are, they just don’t want to admit it to themselves. And because of this stupid denialism there are way too many minors involved in that stuff. It’s just a way to try and launder age play for teenagers, and that’s just fucked up. All the while they accuse actual responsible fetishists who don’t want minors in their spaces of being groomers. It reminds me of some of that old school TBDL stuff that thankfully was shut down by the ABDL community at large. Except this movement now also has this undercurrent of extreme moralizing where they fully think it’s ok to harass people for the supposed moral crime of just being willing to admit that age play is age play.
I will say though, I definitely don’t think they’ve “won” per se. This community is very centered on tumblr and the like, and I don’t think necessarily has a massive reach across the internet. And while progress is, definitely slow and back and forth, I think that a larger cultural awareness of ABDL is happening more. I think the thing to do here is just never giving this supposed sfw age regressor people an inch. Keep using our terms, keep playing, and keep talking about how what these people are doing isn’t fundamentally different from age play or ABDL. It helps, in a bitter way, that I don’t think the anti-kink people in society at large actually care about the distinctions that the sfw age re people want to make. The sfw agere people think they can save themselves by throwing averyone under the bus, but they aren’t viewed any differently by the big threats to the whole community. They’re not going to be spared, so to speak. Though honestly, I think the whole ABDL community has problems with throwing other fetishists or people who are just a little more “extreme” then them under the bus, though if you try and explain that seriously people will crucify you for it. Stuff like that will never work, it just leads to worthless community infighting.
while i wish the agere stuff was mainly just contained to tumblr, ive noticed a startling trend these past few years where its slowly been seeping out into the mainstream. it’s all over twitter, tiktok, youtubers making content that gets tens of thousands of views, and the worst offender imo is instagram, considering its a purely original image based platform. the amount of minors on there posing in diapers and kink gear for some of the worst people on the internet to see, is incredibly disturbing. the reach they have, especially on these shorts-based platforms, is absolutely ridiculous.
it’s huge. way bigger than the community here on tumblr, which is kinda funny considering it originated on here. the sfw agere community on tumblr is surprisingly dead, even though it seems pretty active, because tumblr itself is a dead platform. i wouldnt have as much of a problem if it stayed mainly on a contained and low-key platform like tumblr, but now they’ve all moved on to way more public and mainstream means of posting and spreading their agenda. if you want to get truly radicalized you have got to see it for yourself. theres so much misinformation out there now that even beginning to attempt to correct it is going to take a mountain of effort.
it’s even crept it’s way into mental health spaces for pretty nefarious reasons, you have so many teenagers and young adults going to their therapists about it who most likely just nod along, just so they can come back on social media and say, “see guys! it’s a therapist approved coping mechanism so any criticism towards it is totally null and void! still not a kinkster! hehe!” it’s all really manipulative and slimey when i think about it.
of course, it’s not all that bad. there are still spaces for us and there’s been a tiny bit more acceptance within places like the queer community and even the wider kink/fetish community after they spend so long trying to push us out. i think they realized that we’ll always be here and we’ll always be an integral part of kink and queer culture as a whole, which is pretty cool. we’re all a part of the same team after all.
but there will never be mainstream acceptance of us, like you said, we will always be considered freaks and a danger to the normies regardless of whatever label it hides behind. and that’s what the agere people cant cope with. they’ve done this whole song and dance and revisionism in order to engage in their kink in a public manner, and maybe they will create their own little echo chambers and rope some people in, but at the end of the day they’re setting theirselves up for failure. ageplayers already know this reality too well, of being used as punching bags and publicized for shock content for the last two decades or so. we have been so thoroughly abused and had our name ran through the mud.
there’s still hope for them i feel, because at some point of staying in these communities for so long, it gets harder and harder to keep up the facade to yourself that you’re doing anything other than ageplaying. anyone who has continued to stay in these spaces for years on end is currently doing insane amounts of mental gymnastics in their head to prevent themselves from coming to this conclusion eventually. you can see it happen in real time, because they either stop posting at all, or they start avoiding the label in subtle little ways. i first noticed it around 5-6ish years ago when “noncom” was the newest trend. it’s a way to subtly break away without entirely denouncing the community and to avoid the baggage that comes from aligning with either “side.” even tho in my experiences most of them still stayed aligned with sfw agere anyways, so idk.
the newest label for defectors these days seems to be “dualcom,” which i have the least problems with as they are kink-positive as a whole and keep everything 18+. to me it’s still not exactly perfect, especially the name itself implying “dual community” when it’s mostly an entirely new community on its own. it’s really impossible to have any sort of footing in both spaces at once. and i don’t think you need a brand new community/label to say that you regress both sexually and nonsexually. thats the sentiment for like 98% of ageplayers anyway.
the conclusion this gives me is that everyone wants to ageplay but no one wants to be an ageplayer. even though they’re getting closer and closer to understanding it, theyre still afraid to let themselves go all the way and find their own place in the community. mostly because 99% of these dualcom/noncom people have spent their youth in kink-negative agere spaces, absorbing all kinds of shame and misinformation about themselves. of course it’s hard to get out of that mindset. but once you do, it’s more freeing than you could ever imagine. i just want all of us to come together like we used to, i want everyone to realize that ageplayers arent a monolith and there are so many ways to do it, to engage with the community. we had plenty of space for nonsexual ageplayers! and theyre still there for anyone who wants to come and join us. you’re safe to play and pretend with us however you want it. separating each other into tiny little pockets of communities only hurts us and draws us further apart in the end.
of course, i do feel a little bit silly sometimes to be so passionate about this since im a youngin compared to the rest of the ageplay community as a whole. but i think it gives me a unique perspective, from seeing the beginnings and the evolution of these off-shoot communities. and firsthand experience since ive been swept up in it since i was like 13. it’s been exhausting and a wild ride to say the least, and even though ive been out of the agere spaces for a while, i cant help but keep my eye on them and notice just how far their reach has spread. and as i get older and even more detached, it becomes ever the more disturbing and a real cause for concern. we all need to stop enabling this and look at the real tangible harm it’s causing in multiple aspects. it leaves minors vulnerable to predation by engaging in what is indistinguishable from kink online, and it contributes to the ever present abuse and misrepresentation of ageplayers. no one wins here. and we have to talk about it, no matter how much they push back with “but my coping mechanism! but im autistic! but im just having fun!” enough is enough. no more excuses.
very mean agere discourse block if -18 or you don’t want to hear it
will never not be bitter about how much revisionism the “sfw agere” community did to the kink community. will never not be mad that they treat us like predatory stains on society when their community was only created to rebrand nonsexual ageplay and give minors an “okay” to publicly engage in bdsm. will never not be mad that there is no place for us here anymore because of them.
massive walls of text under the cut.
i didnt really want to have to touch this post again but theres been some bad faith interpretations of it thst i kinda wanna clear up. i understand why bc this rant was largely made in the heat of the moment and i definitely came off hot in my tone. so let me clear some things up now that my thoughts have settled! (youll probably have to scroll a bit far down after clicking “keep reading” since this post is so damn long sorry)
1. this post is not ageist or adultist or whatever? i understand that i talk about minors in kink here a lot and my tone came off very frustrated but let me make this clear:
there is nothing wrong with minors having curiosity and interests in their sexualities and kinky stuff. not a single thing! it’s healthy and normal and kind of unavoidable in the environment of the internet where it’s so easy to stumble on things and have new feelings about it. that’s fine! teens should be able to express their sexualities in healthy ways and safe environments.
HOWEVER! this cannot be online, public, or on social media! im sorry, it’s just not safe. im not sure why we’ve completely disregarded the basic principles of internet safety here in the name of being woke and “not adultist”, but minors should not be in adult or adult adjacent communities where they are vulnerable to predation. i should not have to say that.
and it’s 100% reasonable for adults to feel frustrated when after they’ve tried to express this and put them on the right path, that they choose to disregard it entirely and create new communities that give them an excuse to engage in their interests “discreetly” while not really changing anything at all. unfortunately, putting “sfw” in front of a few tags does not make your community safe. it doesn’t give you a magic shield or bubble that protects you from bad actors and people misinterpreting your community. in fact, it makes you and the people in your community even more vulnerable when you put up a big red blinking sign that says “minors here! sfw only! dont sexualize!”.
it’s even more frustrating when people come on here and make entirely bad faith and uneducated statements on this subject when they have no idea how these communities even came to be. the sfw agere community was invented 10-11 years ago after SO much discourse and minors trying to push their way into the cgl community. before inventing “agere” these minors tried REALLY hard to have a spot in kink communities because “they weren’t doing it sexually, so it’s fine for us to share spaces.” there was no distinction between the meanings of SFW and nonsexual, which led to the widespread use of tags like “sfw cgl” and “sfw littlespace.” obviously the cgl community wasnt having it. there were years of discourse over this and tired kinksters having to defend their community and say “no, just because you’re not getting sexual gratification from it doesnt make it not a kink. and online kink spaces arent for minors. kink cannot be sfw even if it is nonsexual.”
and thus led to the creation of one of the first (if not the first) “sfw agere” communities. cglre. just cgl, a kink tag, with “re” for regression slapped onto the end. this community was made by minors (and some adults) in kink who defected from “sfw cgl” which was obviously under fire for not being real or a safe place in the slightest. they defined their community as a branch of “sfw, non-kink cgl” (??? which doesn’t exist?) open to minors. nothing changed from the shift to “sfw cgl” to “cglre.” nothing at all. they encouraged and allowed the usage of kink terms like littlespace and little* by minors to describe their “regression”
*“little” as an identifier not connected to any mental health communities, i know “little” is a shared term but they borrowed it from kink in this specific case.
again, nothing changed. just minors in kink who now had a brand new shiny scapegoat to hide behind. minors using the same old kink tags and language, posing in kink gear for photos, having power exchange relationships with their caregivers, etc. absolutely no functional difference was created. except now they could say that they were “age regressing” instead of ageplaying, even though ageplaying and age regressing were never mutually exclusive to one another. they were quick to realize this and soon enough deployed mass amounts of misinformation about kink and age regression (“ageplay is only ever just “pretending” for sexual purposes, regression is never sexual or kinky at all, ageplay cant be nonsexual, age regressed people have the same capacities as an actual real life child”, etc etc). this same misinformation is still so prevalent to this day and has done SO much harmful revisionism to these communities, it’s not even funny. of course we are frustrated.
so when i say that agere “ripped off” ageplay, yeah, i mean it. because i was there and saw it happen as an impressionable minor who also got swooped up and misinformed because of these people. everything i just told you is a firsthand account of events. unfortunately tumblr fucking sucks and the porn ban nuked everything, including the agere community. (funny how even tumblr made no distinction between ageplay and agere communities and wiped both of them. almost like there is no real difference). so yeah, finding real and accurate info about this is going to be hard. it’s no wonder all this revisionism really got out of control.
and the amount of cognitive dissonance is amusing to me, because the agere people will convince themselves that they’re entirely divorced from ageplay, that they have nothing in common with ageplay, that their community and what they’re doing just “naturally appeared” one day. because that’s not true and that’s not how it happened. sfw agere and the concept of age regression as we know it now would not exist without ageplay. their community was invented after years of deliberation and discourse about the ethics of minors in kink spaces online. anyone who’s been around these spaces and communities for the last ten years would tell you this directly to your face. but they don’t listen to us. they refuse to engage with us at all or believe us because the majority of them still see ageplayers as moral failures and unsafe people. for doing the exact same thing they do. of course it’s frustrating and of course we’re all tired.
and one last tangent so theres not even more bad faith interpretations of what ive just said:
i don’t care if you want a nonsexual space to regress or play with your regression or whatever. while i do believe that most of you would be better off just being nonsexual ageplayers, i understand theres a discomfort around mixing these feelings and spaces with one another. sure, whatever, fine. you can have your boundaries and protect your vulnerable space.
i do have problems when you pretend that your interests and community have nothing to do with ageplay, because that’s not true. you wouldn’t have your safe space if it wasn’t for ageplay. even if it makes you uncomfortable you still need to acknowledge that. i do have a problem when you’re doing things that are functionally no different from ageplaying while holding internalized anti-ageplay sentiments and spreading them throughout your community. i do have problems with your communities allowing minors to engage in what is indistinguishable from ageplay on the internet. (saying “nonsexual” and putting a banner on your post doesnt change the material reality of what you’re doing. without any of those things people will just assume youre ageplaying. please remember that.) i do have problems with the belief that your community is inherently safer than adult communities that do their best to keep them adult-only.
thats all. and i understand i should’ve taken time to collect my thoughts and feelings about the situation beforehand instead of posting a heated, very personal rant that could be taken in bad faith. i want our communities to not be so afraid of each other, and i want there to be more objective facts and history about the origins of these communities. it would do both sides so much good to mend the relationship here. most importantly i just want everyone to see ageplayers as people, to be more normal about us, to stop pedojacketing us, and to realize we’re more alike than you think. i know it’s unlikely to happen but we can all take steps to make things better and clearer for everyone.
if youve taken the time to read all of this you dont know how appreciative i am towards you. even if you don’t agree with what i have to say. listening is the first step. so thank you! and byebye again
this blog is so neglected.. i only come on here to look through my likes n reblog stuff in hopes that i didnt already
