Field Marshal Records is an impressive imprint run by Kitcheners' Andrew (The DJ) Clements and Dan Mare (aka Veld). As well as internationally recognized Jazzuelle, FMR boasts some of the most underrated producers in the country.

From downtempo chillwave to uplifting, exquisite electronica, Vox Portent’s Benoni-bred productions span a shattered vision of ambient potential. His bright samples and unconventional melodies capture a sweetness and expanse whose warmth belies the energy and youth of their maker. The bedroom producer has quickly become a festival darling with his improvisational live sets, forging real connections between his sounds and the crowd. Vox Portent was on the line up at Churn 2013 and the evolution of his sound has been a pleasure to witness. We are proud to welcome an artist as dynamic and vital as Vox Portent back to an old space with so much new energy.

Eastside beauty Escapism Refuge hits things and basslines fall out. The producer has been active since his tender teens and his pallette betrays a sophistication years in the making. Grounded on the minimalist frameworks and half-stepping bass unearthed by labels like Tectonic and Tempa, elevated by spooky synths and broken vocals, Escapism Refuge crafts a sonic reality with no master and every intention to break loose. Moody, silky and ten tons heavy, catch the young beatsmith at Churn 2015 for a leftfield collection of experimentally-sourced low end soundscapes.

Veld is an ageing producer, originally from Durban. Landlocked by golden chains, though he’s far from the ocean, he still gets to surf – on sine waves that is! Fond of shitty puns and controlled sub-bass, Veld gets high and low on Saturday at Churn. He may even get bos.

Founding member of Kitcheners, the sub_urban state parties as well as co-hosting the the original Maboneng rooftop jols, Sundays in the City and Sunday Jive, and of course CHURN, Andrew the DJ’s passion and dedication to the industry runs deep. A wildcard DJ, he is known for his eclectic sets and (in)famous one on one sessions. On the right occasion, he will blow your mind. On the wrong occasion you might see fruit flying.
