The smirk that forms on his lips is immediate, there’s no question about it. She’s a vampire, he’s a vampire. She isn’t SURE — and it is frustrating. Because her SKILL is reading people, if knowing that they are and how they think, and she cannot even tell if her own sister is ABLE TO BE SAVED. She wants to hope she is. But how much will it hurt the others, if she is returned and they must kill her anyway? She would rather bear this guilt, this PAIN { this agony } alone. It’s what she has always done.
But GOD, she wants to BELIEVE HER —
She is beside her sister in an instant, grip COLD upon her form, pushing her to the ground and bending arms back to keep them immobile. Her hold is unforgiving and vice - like, but she does not move to kill her. SHE NEEDS TO THINK.

she does not struggle, she does not scream. her arms tugged behind her back, on knees; staring distantly at the grass. she is NUMB. killing them kept her satisfied. gave her MEANING. even if it was to take lives of others. at least she did not feel worthless. even if they became worthless.

what could he say to this? this — secret she’d kept to herself all these years. he understood why she wouldn’t want to talk about it, why she wouldn’t want to relive it. he felt a fire in his dead chest. “what happened to them?” he asked quietly. tied to horses and ripped apart in the streets. ripped apart by dogs. syphilis. something. he wanted them to suffer, for hurting rose. she already hates it here. she doesn’t belong here. she isn’t like THEM. get out! get out! run! it’s hard to silence the demanding voice. not as difficult to deal with as the memories though. the mines. those MONSTERS. in some sick way, it’s calming. the realization keeps her from running out of that building with what little of her pride she had left. her eyes scan the room, taking everything in with fleeting moments, including that girl. the last thing she needed was to make a new buddy. hell, what do people talk about in these places? do they bond over ptsd and reoccurring nightmares? she frowns at the thought. “hey.” she’s too busy adjusting to her new living quarters to notice much about the other aside from the obvious. “nice hair.”
she just shifts a little on the bed. she looks like vera. fuck. but she won’t mention anything, just picking at the threads on her duvet. her walls are BLANK though she’s allowed to hang what she pleases from the wall. everything she has is a simple reminder of the things that haunt her, day in day out. “careful. who you trust i mean, they can be pigs sometimes.” royce and his friends were the first; they were certainly not the L A S T. “the male orderlies, don’t let them near you. you’ll regret it.” t r u s t h e r. “rosalie. by the way.”

a new r o o m a t e they tell her. someone who they don’t think will be here long. she just hopes it isn’t a male; the male staff attendants make her flinch, some of them even MOCK her. she doesn’t talk unless its therapy and even then the words she says are soft, barely there and a rarity. but when a dark haired girl wanders upon the room; rose isn’t sure if she’s GLAD she isn’t a man or upset she has a roommate at all. “h... hey.” she’s t e n s e. wonders if the other girl can see the fingernail marks across the side of her cheek; where she digs. in hopes of making herself less appealing.
