You shut the door to the bathroom in the Howard's home pressing the phone to your ear "What?" you tried to sound bitter but you missed the sound of Nate's voice . Maddy had told she'd thought it'd be better if the two of you kept your distance from him and you knew she was right.
Nate had fucked the both of you up but you missed him, you hated that you did. "Hey" he spoke into the phone "You doing okay?" He asked "I'm doing fine" you breathed into the phone. "I miss you...a lot" you looked at yourself in the reflection of the mirror as you listened to his words. He silenced for a moment waiting for you to respond.
"What do you want?" you asked suddenly hearing noises from downstairs, your eyebrows furrowed "I want you back, us" you listened to his voice "Me, you and...Cassie" It took you a minute to register what he had said and you felt a sharp pain in your chest, light ringing in your ears.
Your breathing grew heavy "W-what?"
That's when he told you, about everything and you felt like someone was ripping your heart out. "But Maddy-"
"I don't want Maddy, I want you" the words rung through your brain "It can be just us three, Cassie loves you too" Your eyes filled will tears as you tried desperately to blink them away.
"I-" you cut yourself off when suddenly the door busted open and you turned seeing Rue.
She barely paid attention to you immediately going for the mirror opening it. You looked down at your phone hanging up on Nate as the information you just recieved seemed to sink.
Cassie was fucking Nate.
Your best friend and your ex.
You felt slightly dizzy as you stepped out the bathroom, your feet began to drag towards the stairs.
Everything seemed to be so blurry but maybe it was just your teary eyes. "Y/N?" You moved down the stairs the sound of Maddy's voice and you practically ran into her arms letting her hold you "What's wrong baby?"
"I have to talk to you Mads" you whispered "Yeah of course just wait" she pointed towards the stairs where Rue was sitting. You didn't register the words being said as they talked.
"I can't do that shit forever"
"You don't have to, Just take it one day at a time" Cassie looked back at us but I couldn't dare meet her eyes holding onto Kat's arm "Are you okay?"
"Hey Cass?" Your eyes lifted to Rue "Yeah?"
"Maddy I really need to talk to you" You whispered "Just wait a second, we're almost done' You nodded slowly
"I have a quick question for you"
"What?"
"How long have you been fucking Nate Jacobs?" The room suddenly completely shifted and you felt like throwing up.
Your heart raced as you watched Maddy process this information. You wanted to be the one to tell her but obviously you couldn't. Cassie let out a nervous chuckle "What are you talking about?"
"How long have you been fucking Nate" Maddy looked back at you and Kat "Maddy, baby-" she looked back at them "What are you talking about?"
"I just saw her get in his truck and kiss him and drive off, that was like what? A month ago?" Maddy looked at Cassie and you knew hell was about to break loose.
You grabbed Maddy's hand "Are you kidding me?" Cassie tried to form words looking around the room.
"Cass that's like really bad" Kat said her hand on your shoulder trying to comfort you as you rolled your shoulder back a little. "You're fucking Nate are you kidding me?"
She turned to you "She's fucking Nate, can you fucking believe this?" She scoffed disgusted "No I don't even know why she would say that?" Cassie spoke though she was looking more at you and you shook your head "You're lying!"
"Can we just table this conversation?" Suze tried, as Kat tried desperately to calm down Maddy.
"No, you expect to stand here next to my best friend, our best friend" she held your hand tightly "Who's been lying to us about fucking our ex" she dropped your hand once again "I'm literally going to get violent"
"We're having an intervention!"
"Maddy come on" You cupped her face "Maybe we should save this for later, Rue's in trouble" Maddy shook her head.
"SHE'S FUCKING NATE Y/N! I DON'T KNOW HOW YOU COULD STAND HERE IN HER PRESENCE AND NOT FEEL FUCKING SICK!" She shouted though you knew she wasn't mad at you but you looked at her and she suddenly knew "You knew?"
"No! Well yes but I just found out when I was talking to Nate-"
"YOU WERE TALKING TO NATE?! I THOUGHT WE AGREED WE WOULD WAIT IT OUT FIRST!" You buried your face in your hands for a moment as she turned to Cassie.
"Oh you're crying? You're fucking crying!? You fucking bitch, you're the one who's hurt?" You stood behind as she stomped over to Cassie.
You looked at Lexi who looked worried "You're the most self centered idiotic person I have ever fucking met! You fuck our ex and you're fucking crying?! Are you fucking kidding me!?" Your hands shook a bit licking your lips.
"You were just with Y/N calling her your best fucking friend when you were fucking him behind her back! How dare you?"
"Let's just do this later, Y/N tell her" Kat pointed at Maddy and you moved towards her as she began to pray, probably to fight the urge to slap Cass. "Maybe we should wait till later"
"I don't even know why you're believing her, she's a drug addict" you turned to her scoffing and Maddy turned as well "How long have you been fucking him? be honest" Cassie stumbled over her words before Maddy turned to you "How long has she been fucking him? When was this? I know he fucking told you" You cleared your throat glancing around the room.
"A-after new years" You stuttered out in a low whisper "YOU DUMB FUCKING BITCH I'M GOING TO FUCK YOU UP!" Cassie ran up the stairs causing Maddy to follow 'DON'T FUCKING RUN AWAY FROM ME YOU STUPID BITCH" You and Kat ran following.
"Y/N!" Your eyebrows furrowed as you were brought back to reality by the sound of Maddy's voice. The memory from earlier stopped playing in your brain "Yeah?" You asked wiping the tears from your cheek looking down at your phone where Nate's picture popped up as he continously called you.
"Should I kill her?"
"I think you should do whatever you think is right" You told her, she brushed some hair away from your face "She fucked us over, I can't believe she fucked us over" For once this whole night you could hear the pain in her voice. She hugged you "I don't know what I was thinking trying to get us back together, he fucked us up Y/N"
You breathed out your eyes closing as you held her "I know"
"I don't know I miss him sometimes but I'm never sure what I'm missing if he was never really there you know?" She looked at you tears running down her cheek "I'm not sure what we got out of that relationship"
"We got each other" you dropped your phone on the bed before her holding her hands in yours "That's all we need" she smiled before her eyes dropped to your phone where Nate was calling again.
"You didn't tell me you were still talking to him before the whole Rue thing happened" She stated though she didn't seem like she was mad at you, you shrugged "I know I'm sorry it's just- I know I shouldn't feel like I care but I do" you began to cry softly "And it kills me because just a few days before he was kissing me telling me how he was going to fix things. He promised that the three of us would be fine" You sobbed
"I'm sorry for believing him I'm so stupid" Maddy shook her head wrapping her arms around you again "it's okay" she kissed your temple "He loved you he did, maybe more than he liked me" You shook your head cupping her face "Don't say that"
"He did I know it but maybe he didn't know how to show it that's why he was so shitty"
"We deserve better don't we?" You laughed through your tears and she hummed "We do"
Maddy pulled away wiping her tears with a sigh "What do you wanna do?"
"I just need go get my mind off of all this backstabbing bullshit" you ran your hands over your face and she nods as you tried to think and your eyes widened "Lexi said I could be in her play awhile back do you think she'd still let me?"
Maddy smiled "Yeah" she laughed.
"I'm gonna go ask" she nodded happily kissing your cheek "Meet me later at Theo's" she told you looking at her phone "Okay" you pressed her lips against hers. She held you there for a second savoring you.
You laughed softly when she pulled away "I love you"
"I love you too" She replied.
You should've stayed with her, you could feel it in your chest, something bad was coming but you figured it was all in your head and now you were sitting on Lexi's bed.
You stared at Cassie's side of the room, the memories of sleepovers in the room made your heart ache. She was your best friend, the one you called late at night.
You thought she was there for you.
You sighed rolling your shoulders back turning to Lexi “Please?” Lexi had a look of pitiness in her kind eyes, as if she knew the reason I was standing before her. She smiled softly “Yeah” you clapped giddily “Thank you Lex!” You threw your arms over her shoulder’s.
She patted your back before you pulled away “I can’t wait to tell Maddy!” You squealed, Lexi nodded and you moved to walk away when she grabs your wrist “I’m sorry Y/N, about Cassie”
You licked your dry lips shaking your head forcing a smile on your face “You didn’t do anything”
“I know” she sighs “I’ll see you around” You nodded before scurrying away.
When you arrived, you let yourself in happily “Maddy?!” You called out but you didn’t get a response. Your tilted your head but figured she didn’t hear you, you rushed up the stairs happily swinging the door opened “Maddy you won’t believe what happened-” You cut yourself off at the sight of Nate.
“Ah just the person I was looking for”
You registered 3 things once you came to your senses; the gun in Nate’s hand, the tear stains on Maddy’s cheek and the sadistic smile on Nate’s face.
Your eyes slid carefully across the room landing on Maddy "What's going on?"
You knew Nate, you had to play it cool. You breathed shakily shutting the door behind you “Hey Nate” your hands shook lightly “What are you doing here honey?” The name rolled off your tongue effortlessly, you could see his shoulder calm a bit.
“Hey” he smiled, it was almost eerie “Come” your eyes shifted to Maddy as you stepped into the room she shook her head subtly but Nate grabbed your wrist pulling further into the room standing in the way of your line of sight towards Maddy. “You doing okay?” You tried to keep your voice steady as he held one of yours hands in his empty hand.
“I want it” he hummed moving his hand up to your face, using the barrel of the gun to brush some hair away from your face. You knew what he wanted, the disk.
“Want what honey?” You played coy letting him move closer to you, he buried his face in your neck inhaling your scent, he slowly he realized how much he had missed you.
You reached your shaky hand to his head massaging his scalp, your nails brushing through his hair just as they did so many times before.
Your eyes connected with Maddy’s and you mouthed ‘Are you okay?’ She nodded quickly but your eyes quickly landed back on Nate as he abruptly raised his head and you flinched when he pressed the gun to your temple.
“I know she gave it to you” He whispered his nose bumping against yours, your heart beated in your chest. “I love you” you dodged his words but he only pressed it harder against your head and you let out a soft cry your eyes closing.
“Shh, Shh just tell me where it is angel”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about” You shook your head wishing you were anywhere but here “I care about you”
“No you don’t” you gulped and he seemed taken aback as your eyes fluttered open “Why do you think that?” He immediately went to glare at Maddy thinking she had turned you against him but you grabbed his face reverting his gaze back to you.
You didn’t want him to hurt Maddy.
“You chose Cassie didn’t you?” A tear slipped from your cheek, both from heartbreak and fear “No.” He stated cupping your face seemingly forget Maddy was even there “It can still be us, you…me…and Cass, we can be happy. I love you so much”
A part of you wanted to accept, wanted the warm hold Nate had on you back but the other part knew you couldn’t, this wasn’t the man you had fell in love with…this was a monster.
He cupped your cheek and your nuzzled into his skin “I-I can’t” you whispered.
Maddy tried to climb off the bed but he suddenly pointed the gun at her “Stay right there” she sat back down as he shook his head looking at you almost disappointed “I’m gonna need that tape now”
He looked between you and Maddy “Y/N” he sounded as if he was warning you, you eyes stood glued to his hand as it dropped to his side.
"We don't have it" Maddy spoke, he scoffs suddenly emptying the bullets out of the gun leaving one on the inside and you closed your eyes trying to hold back tears “Okay”
He took a step against you, his body against yours pressing the gun against your head for a moment as you began to cry. "Nate please" Maddy tried but he ignored his forehead pressing against yours shutting his eyes.
He cut you off placing the gun to his head “Please” you begged as he clicked it the first time and you began to cry harder, he kissed the corner of your mouth “I don’t know where it is” He clicked it again but you still didn’t budge sobbing. "Stop it" Maddy sobbed "Stop it please"
Then he realized it, there was always something standing in between you and him, in between your love….and that was Maddy.
Suddenly he pulled it away from his head facing it towards Maddy and you shook your head moving to stand in front of her "I love you, I love you" you cried.
He grabbed your upper arm yanking you away held you against him, your head was faced to Maddy, his lips brushing faintly against your cheek “Tell me or she’s fucking dead” He held you tightly pressing the gun to her forehead as Maddy begged.
"Stop it, Please, Please"
“Stop” You yelled and Maddy let out a loud sob.
You just wanted it to stop. He clicked it and you flinched but it didn’t stop “Please, Please Nate Please stop, You said you loved me you lied, you wouldn't be doing this if you loved me" you cried, he clicked it again “STOP STOP ITS IN HER PURSE! I PUT IT IN HER PURSE” You shouted your hands shaking, crying so hard it almost felt like you couldn’t breathe.
He smiled kissing your lips softly before leaning his head down to your shoulder kissing your neck lightly taking in you for a second before he moved away. Maddy grabbed you and you collapsed in her arms sobbing as she held you. The two of you crying together, you heard him shuffled around before he stopped.
His feet coming towards you “Hey, Hey it’s okay angel” you sobbed harder at the sound of his voice hiding your face in Maddy’s chest. “I’m sorry I was joking” He reached out touching your back and you kicked away from him sobbing.
“Don’t touch me” you didn’t look at him hiding afraid of the monster who’d be looking back "You won" you sobbed "You won now you got what you want" you sobbed.
Maddy looked up at him seeing a genuinely sad look on his face and she shook her head "Get out"
“I’m sorry" he whispered "I love you Y/N"
He looked between you and Maddy and he sighed "Goodbye” he whispered leaving as the two of you sobbed.
