You know I already commented on adorable homicidal crazy-hair Zoisite but what is really currently breaking my heart is

It’s so prevalent it even pops up in fanart and cosplay, and while his body language is different in La Reconquista (which probably goes along with his entire damned storyline being different), in the promo shots, his actress still does this. There are shots of all of the Shitennou standing cross-armed and glowering, of course, but Zoisite is the one who looks more like he’s hugging himself than crossing his arms.

Someone on Tumblr did this great post about how when you do that over and over and over it’s a subconscious insecurity/self-comfort thing, which 100% makes sense when you realize he’s way younger than the other Shitennou, and tiny and pretty where they’re large and imposing, and even when he’s in positions where by necessity he isn’t all folded in on himself, like running and climbing, he still keeps his hips tight and his shoulders turned in like he’s trying to make himself smaller still (and he’s small enough to impersonate Usagi who’s only 4’11”, it’s not like he can actually get much smaller).

There’s really only one time in Google Image Search that he pops up not all folded in on himself, and even that’s misleading—it’s when he’s making fireballs and kinda has to keep his hands away from his face, but long shots still show his feet crossed in that scene, and his elbows are still tucked in. Even when he impersonates Sailor Moon—with the understanding that the off-color fuku is an anime convention for audience benefit so we can tell them apart and that in-universe he’d actually match her near-perfectly, if not dead on—what gives him away isn’t his differently-shaped eyes or his voice, but the fact that his body language is the complete opposite of hers—she comes in with legs akimbo and arms spread, and even as her he can’t stop himself from tightening his hips and crossing his arms.

So really, the only time in the entire series that you see him completely abandoning that insecurity and that I’m-useful-because-I’m-pretty stance is right here.

Protecting Kunzite. This is a boy who took a punch, wailed “you scarred my precious face!”, and ran away in a fit of pique over a slightly bloody lip, but now you’ve added his injured lover to the equation, and either you or he will damn well die before you lay another finger on Kunzite.

Socially-awkward Kunzite is one of my favourite things.

Give me Kunzite getting all shy when Zoisite first presses his advances.

Give me Kunzite innocently following his feelings, because they feel good, with no understanding of them until it gets too intense, then backing up with the grace of a startled bull.

Give me Kunzite who clears his throat and grunts and pats Zoisite on the head gruffly whenever he gushes.

Give me Kunzite who has learned to hide his shyness with professionalism and deflecting jokes.

Give me Kunzite who smiles so softly and faintly when he is in love, that only Zoisite can catch if he is quiet, and paying the utmost attention, like sighting a robin hidden in the midst.

Give me Kunzite who loves Zoisite so completely and wholly, but still shy.
