āOh please. Call me V.ā
Okaaayyy @rosie-winchester you asked for it and Iām fucking sorry in advanced.
Weeeeeeeelllllll not really cause you kinda asked for it but here it goes. This was kinda the beginning to a series that I started writing a while ago and I just got a weird inspiration to finish the chapter or one shot or whatever you wanna call it. This is totally not my idea cause I most definatly got it from someone else but I donāt remember where sooooooo fuck. Whelp anyway. Story idea. Not mine.
Warning: mentions of abuse also. Cursing. Itās me. I fucking curse a lot.
My small, bare-feet carried me quickly over to her. The cold wind whipped my hair around, making it knottier then before. I didn't care. I am on a mission. And she was so close yet so far. She was walking like she had a purpose. Like she was going somewhere and she knew exactly where to go. But that's how she always walked, never doubting herself. I should know. It took me a while to find her.
I weaved myself between the legs of all the people who were making there daily commute to work. But not once did my eyes leave her. I sped up my pace as she started turning a corner into an ally. "I'm gonna regret this so much." I whispered to myself before running after her into the ally. A let out a scream when she grabbed me from behind before she covered my mouth with her hand.Ā
"Who are you? Why are you following me?" my whole body was shaking with fear. I tried to respond but because her hand was over my mouth it came out muffled. "If I take my hand off your mouth. Promise me you won't scream." I nodded my head and tried to say 'I promise'. She slowly took her hand away from my mouth and keeping true to her promise I kept quiet. "Well?" she questioned, willing me to speak.Ā
"Please." I begged. "I need your help." she let go of me and turned me around to face her. She crouched down to my level and put both of her hands on my shoulder.Ā
"Listen kid. I don't think you know who I am but you most defiantly don't need my help."
"No please." I begged, tears welling in my eyes as she started to stand up to leave. "You don't understand! I know exactly who you are and what you do. You are Vivianne Walker and you are an assassin for hire." hot tears were falling freely down my face because she was walking away. My one chance to change my life for the better. She stopped in her tracks when she heard that. She slowly turned around and crouched back down to my level.Ā
"How do you know that?" she asked me softly, wiping away my tears
"I have been following you and trying to find you for a while. Two months maybe. But everyday you do something different and I don't know where you stay. But now I don't need to because here you are. And you are my only chance to be free. I know you are payed way more but I only have a twenty that took me forever to get and save up. But I need you to kill my dad. Please! I begging-"
"Ace!" his loud voice boomed through the alleyway. "What the hell do you think you are doing here?" he yelled as I quickly wiped the tears from my eyes. He grabbed me by the arm, the bruises from last night hurting when he threw me into him. "I'm sorry if my bitch of a daughter bothered you. She escap- uh, went out without telling me this morning and here she is." the alcohol from his breath burning my nostrils. I silently pleaded to Ms. Walker to save me.Ā
"No, no, sir. She actually was gonna join me for breakfast and then we were gonna drop by her house and grab all her belongings and take her to her new home." I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding in.
"Yeah. And what's in it for me?" he questionedĀ
"Well your 'bitch of a daughter' wouldn't be your problem anymore."
"Yeah. And?"
"And how about this," Ā she started as she pulled out her wallet from her jacket pocket and pulled out a hundred dollar bill and handed it to him. "to consolidate your loss." she finished Ā
"Alright." he let go of my arm and my hand quickly went to rub it hoping the pain would lessen. "Bye Ace." he raised his hand to slap me and I braced my myself for a slap that never came.Ā
"Seeing as she is not yours anymore you have no right to lay a finger on her. You do that and I swear to fucking god I will end your life." when she said that I opened my eyes and she was standing over me holding my step dads wrist above her head. He looked like he was in pain and I was glad. "Now when I let go you are gonna turn around a run off to where you came from. K? K." her voice was strong and no words would be able to describe how thankful I am.Ā
She let go and he ran off and I immediately fell down to the ground sobbing. I felt arms try and wrap around me but I scrambled away before she could.
āDarling? What's the matter?"
"Nothing," I said between sobs, "It's just that you saved me and I will never be able to repay you."Ā
"Don't worry about it. You will be repaying me without even realizing it." I wiped away the tears and stood up. I watched as she crouched down so we were the same height and she opened her arms and nodded. I did nothing yet she smiled at me.
She stood back up and held her hand out. āHow about we go get breakfast?" I looked up at her confused.
"Like, in a restaurant?"Ā
"Yeah." she chuckled, "Their's this great little diner just down the street. Best pancakes ever." I nodded my head in agreement and smiled as I took her hand. We set forth out of the alley and sooner or later started skipping and laughing at silly faces we were making.
It didn't take long to get to the diner, and there weren't very many people in the diner either. A waitress came up to us and seated us right away and went off before quickly saying "Someone will be right with you to take your order."
Everything was so amazing. The light chattering of everyone in the diner. The clattering of all of the dishes that are being cleaned up from people who have just left. "So, Ace." Ms. Walker said drawing my attention away from everything that was going on in the diner and onto her.Ā
"Ms. Walker." I said back and she chuckled.
"Oh please, call me V."
"Okay, V." I said, "Wait. How do you know my name?"
"Well, when your step father came yelling in the alley he yelled Ace. And I pieced two and two together." she trailed off and I nodded. We sat in silence while we both looked at the menu. "Like I said. Best pancakes in town." I looked up at V and she was giving me a warm smile. I smiled back and directed my eyes from the sandwich section to the pancakes. My eyes immediately settled on the fresh blueberry pancakes.Ā
I closed my menu and V took it out of my hands and placed it on hers. "So what did you chose?"
"The fresh blueberry pancakes."
"Good choice. So did I." she smiled at me and I smiled back. I sat there. Looking at her, smiling.
Ā "Hi. I'm Vanessa. I'll be taking care of you for this morning. Can I start you both with something to drink?" V gave the waitress a warm smile and I followed her eyes so that I was looking at the waitress too.Ā
"We're ready to order too."
"Okay great. What can I get you." she pointed to me and I froze, all feelings of happiness going away and fear creeping Ā up my back.Ā
"She will have a small orange juice and the short stack of blueberry pancakes with a side of bacon. And I'll have the same thing except a large orange juice and regular pancakes."
"Alright, your food will be right up." I heard her say but I didn't watch her. When I froze up I immediately looked in my lap and rubbed my hands together.
āWhatās wrong?ā
āHm.ā I hummed without looking up
āAce.ā V said this with authority making me shoot up straight
āYes maāam?ā I answered quickly looking her in the eye.
āItās ok. You can relax.ā V softly spoke. I tried to breathe and relax as she said. āAce,ā she said again, āWhats wrong?ā.
āHe never let me speak. Only to him and only when spoken to. Not even if his friends or clients told me to I wasnāt allowed.ā I watched as Vās expression from concerned to angry. āI-Iām sorry. I shouldnāt of told you that. You didnāt need to know that.ā I started to ramble off anything and everything before softly trailing off with another āI shouldnāt have told you that.ā
āDonāt ever be afraid to tell me something you hear me? Nothing at all. Your my kid now Ace. And things are gonna change for the better. No more clients. No more him ok?ā V said this with a strong yet soft tone that made me feel like everything was gonna be ok.
āAlrighty! Iām sorry for the wait. Here is your guysā food! I hope you enjoy. If there are any problems at all just give me a holler and Iāll be right over!ā
āOkay, thank you.ā V said before looking at me and giving me a nod of reassurance. āAlright. Letās dig in cause Iām starving.ā
