Birb - I wanted to create a very round heavy looking bird, something like the style of Angry Birds, but ultimately decided to explore more interesting paint techniques.
The Creature - This was my first attempt to create a bust, or something like one, from polymer clay, using a stand that I’d made just for this purpose. He’s inspired by aliens and anglerfish.
My daughter’s Baby Moana lost her flower, so I created this one in polymer clay, molded to fit perfectly into the odd space left by the original. Moana deserved better, anyway.
A fun watercolor of my Shiba Inu, Sardino Totino, in a spacy palette of alternate colors.
Lovetap - This watercolor typography is based on the song Lovetap by Smallpools, and allowed me to experiment with shading.
Lucky Fish - This fish is made from polymer clay, then painted in acrylics. I wanted to play with gestures, so I’ve given this guy puffy cheeks and pursed lips as if he’s holding his breath.
Geofeedia was a location-based social media search tool. A user begins by entering a location, which could be their organization’s properties, and all social media posts from selected sources will appear on the map, pinned to where the post took place.
This tool could be immensely helpful and worked simply by harvesting masses of social media posts from each of the supported social media services. Of course, most clients don’t want to see all posts but want to be immediately alerted in special cases.
When dealing with a data-heavy service, users must have simple and accessible ways to find the information they want, as fast as possible, but also to automate the process of broadcasting notifications to others within the organization.
Fathom Voice is a small local VoIP service provider, with software designed to provide next-level analytics on a large number of calls that a client may receive. We wanted to create a tool that would allow many methods of data retrieval.
As you can see in the first screen, we’re able to search by date and caller, for example, and then further sort and filter the user’s calls, while seeing a waveform representation of the call. This may look like an aesthetic choice, but the waveforms are a powerful tool to skip quiet times in the conversation.
Below is a report generator that allows easy selection of filtering criteria to create and save a template for future log exports. The bright colors, light palette and gentle animation effects on the UI should make the user happier and more comfortable while executing a task that could have otherwise felt arduous.
DirectEmployers offers a data-based service, where much of the data is gathered and retrieved via forms. Often times it seems simple to include the form elements and some basic formatting, but the result can make an operation look disorganized. I recreated some of these report generating forms, fine-tuning the inputs, while maintaining a consistent format.
Indigo Biosystems has created a software product that can convert the output from a liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry machine, into usable patient results in 1/10th of the time needed by other current methods.
While Indigo’s software was undoubtedly impressive, their user interface needed to convey a lot of information simply. While the results would be reviewed by a medical professional, they would first be reviewed by an assistant who needs to be able to visually parse the information very quickly.
I’ve shared screen conversions from three parts of the process. At the top we see the page with all results, sorted to show the most recent and their current status. Filtering tools are also available for large organizations processing thousands of samples each day, so the assistant can easily find the results when needed.
Shown next is the configuration screen for user access controls, as well as the initial setup of a batch to be tested. Much time was spent working with stakeholders to better understand the technical requirements needed to be conveyed in output fields, as well as what needed to be gathered from input fields.
The finished result is a simple UI on very complex software, making it much faster and easier to receive and review patient results.
When Lids Sports Group started the Locker Room division, I was tasked to create designs for various brands, and teams. This method would allow us to use a modular design system to get new sites up and running very quickly, while still catering to the unique design and branding needs of our clients.
This is a small selection of those designs, showcasing the home page, as well as a product detail page, below.
Design and storyboard concepts for a mobile app whose intent is to educate users on money management. I started with sketches during meetings with the stakeholders, then created storyboard and style guide in Sketch to better grasp the project and start creating a library of shared resources to be used in the project.
Three example courses are shown to demonstrate the flow and design in practice.
Shut Your Butt - It’s fun to say, and funnier when there’s a butt on it. This sticker was designed by hand, redrawn and refined in Illustrator, then printed on stickers. It’s literally cheeky.
Batshit - Hand lettered, then converted to vector in Illustrator. Once colored, this was printed on buttons, magnets and stickers.
Holy Ghost - Watercolor script based on a BØRNS song title.
Sketched on paper, then cleaned up in Illustrator. Listen is filled with a night sky, while More is filled with a sunrise, both set against a neutral grey background.
These print pieces were created to promote the company’s flagship product, using all-new branding that I had the opportunity to create.
